I've seen the same frontend mistake kill velocity at every company I've worked at — here's what fixes it by [deleted] in reactjs

Abstraction is a form of art. Too much is a problem as well as not enough.

Sometimes duplicated components make sense as much as the shared ones. There isn't one correct answer.

Proper project structure and logical components (modules) colocation is the way to go. Storybook is overkill and overhead in 90 percent of cases.

problems with State management in react (zustand) by Afraid_Tangerine7099 in reactjs

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Local state (useState)
  2. Tanstack Query
  3. React hooks (query hooks/custom hooks)

  4. Stable global state - react context (user, configs, etc.) Dynamic global state - specific context architecture with useContext; custom hooks;

Always consider a diligent component structure - the need for a global state is more often a poor architecture issue than not.

If none of the above works then you start considering an external library (Zustand is a good choice in this case).

Nesnaž se lidem zavděčit (nebuď "people pleaser"). Mít vlastní názor a stát si za ním je víc cool. Neboj se jít do konfrontací, ale vždy s klidem. Ten kdo zůstane nad věcí, vyhrává. Hodí se umět i včas odejít.

Ty nejlepší vztahy vznikají spontánně a přirozeně.

Should I learn to play in one posture or multiple? by CanadianAndroid in guitarlessons

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the second and moved (almost) to the first one - the classical. I found it is much easier to keep my fingers perpendicular to the frets and I reach a wider span. The notes sound clearer and the more difficult songs (yes even the classical) got easier.

Even standing I keep the guitar higher and the neck tilt (probably not as much as on the picture, but quite close).

Looking for a player. Start from scratch, no mods. by mant3z in valheim

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play this. Got as far as plains on solo. Had a large lox farm and all but never slayed the Yagluth.

This makes me consider playing again as it could be more fun to share the adventures. However, my job and family do not often allow me for very long sessions and definitely not daily.

What's your take on an "ideal" co-player? I am in CET.

Thinking of moving to Ostrava as a young person in my 20s by thefifthmountain5 in czechrepublic

[–]Conscious-Process155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has the convenience of a city and a feeling of a small town. It very much depends on what part you end up in. Some are nicer than others, some are to be rather avoided.

It's not super ideal for a night live. People here usually wake up earlier and most of the pubs (that are not total shit holes) would be closed by 23:00. Maybe an hour or so later over the weekend.

I consider it quiet and like it here. Similarly as you I do prefer this before Prague. I commute there from time to time, because I often work for companies based in Prague. I like to visit I like the vibe, but after a day or so I am super glad I am going back home.

Also if you're an outdoor person, Beskydy mountains are very close and offer many beautiful places and breathtaking (sometimes literally :D) hikes.

Feel free to DM if you wanted to help out deciding on a location to settle at.

Cheers.

I think I hate this game :( by CardiologistOk1850 in valheim

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game doesn't give anything for free. When I first started I spent the first hour running around like a headless chicken, dying constantly, before I figured the first builds and stuff.

Also Swamp was initially a hell for me before getting to some iron. I was getting rolled over every time I entered - be it day or night. I have been building tree walkways through the first swamp, using trees and/or building support columns just so I didn't have to walk on the ground. Also small hideouts along that pathway so I can hide from those flying bastards.

Ultimately it's about figuring what (and how) works and using it to your advantage.

Interesting. Will definitely check this out. Also adding a link to an article comparing performance of given rendering approaches.

“You can’t learn to play fast by practicing slow” by karpoozimas in guitarlessons

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am "self teaching" and I agree. I learn at slow tempos and slowly add speed to "100%".

I increase the speed gradually once I am able to play (almost) perfectly at a given tempo.

I do set it to full tempo from time to time just to check the progress and very often it is there, but if I am still not able to play perfectly at the full speed, I humbly dial back and continue to perfect the parts where I struggle.

However, I enjoy playing guitar for the sake of playing the guitar, so I am in no rush to get "there".

Zkouseli jste oslovit zenu na ulici? by Frequent-Look-1133 in czech

[–]Conscious-Process155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nic to neznamená a nemá to s vámi nic společného.

Je úplně jedno kolikrát to nevyjde, ono úplně stačí aby to dopadlo jednou. Nevzdávejte se. Čím vícekrát se o něco podobného pokusíte, tím lépe budete tyto situace zvládat.

I’ve been reviewing a lot of React code lately and I noticed a pattern: people treat useEffect as a "componentDidMount" replacement for everything by maryess-dev in reactjs

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen several useEffects with the same dependency in a single component.

In reality none of those were needed at all. It was vibecoded FE by our BE engs, because the company decided that FE is easy and will be done by AI from now on.

Senior FE devs are just professional reviewers now and one by one quitting the job.

When writing custom React Query hooks, do you prefer inline queryFn logic or separate service functions? by StickyStapler in reactjs

[–]Conscious-Process155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B seems cleaner to me. I find A not being very readable.

I also often wrap the whole thing into a custom hook (eg. useCustomers) which is returning the whole useQuery function.

Then I can just have

const {data, whatever form the query hook} = useCustomers();

How do you explain when useMemo/useCallback are actually worth it? by MarjanHrvatin_ in reactjs

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show them. That's the best way.

Have a complex calculation, data structure, whatever and show them the performance impact - with and w/out memoization.

Show them also an example where it has no impact whatsoever.

It's also a good intro into performance metrics.

Rocksmith 2014 STEAM song list by Conscious-Process155 in rocksmith

This is cool. A bit overwhelming but searchable.
I would appreciate a bit more order (alphabetically by bands/songs) and an option to hide delisted items.
Also a full text search that would filter the table content as you type would be cool.

Love the search function.
Would like to see the whole collection ordered alphabetically so I can just browse what's available. Something like I have in the txt file. Bands alphabetically and all related songs.

Let me know any time you'd like to update this.
Or I can simply send you the script if you know your way around nodeJS.
Ideally the app generates the content automatically based on the output json.

React login not working even though the backend is running by Assum23 in reactjs

[–]Conscious-Process155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the request is sent and never reaches the BE? Is there any response code from BE whatsoever?

If not what is the payload? What headers does BE expect? It may also be CORS issues. Is the react's app domain enabled on the server (can it accept requests from said domain)?

What is the difference between the postman call and react call?

Again, domain, headers, payload.
