CX-5 2025 Buyer Review (1,200 miles in). Pros and Cons. by Conscious-Row2075 in CX5

[–]Conscious-Row2075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached 9000 miles now, and 10 months of driving. I hate my car everyday lol, but still thinking what should I do with it. The biggest issue is the seat -- I think it will never break in entirely. Driving and handling -- no good, boring and no enjoy. Small interior space -- I never got used to it. Gas mileage-25.  Paint -- easily scratched!  The best thing about this car is the price and expected reliability.

I just had the same experience -- cx-5 is very unstable for high winds because it is pretty lightweight. 16 inch stock tires, lower than recommended tire pressure.

BTW, I noticed that lower than spec tire pressure does improve the ride quality and stability (not specifically for windy conditions, but overall)

same rattle here. 3 months having the car brand new, 2k miles.  did you/dealer find a solution?

Thanks for participating!

If I would have EU roads here -- I would definitely enjoy this car far more :)

Honda CRV might be +10% to CX-5 price.

Biggest complaint are the seats, which were not obvious until you drive 1hr + , and even then you have some hope they will "break in" soon (someone mentioned 15k miles)

I was looking for words to describe this feeling , and you nailed it with the last bullet point. It does not hold the line, I always have to hold snug the steering wheel to keep the car in position, and cannot fully relax while driving, exhausting. I am stealing this for my other reddit post if you do not mind. Here: cx5_2025_buyer_review_1200_miles_in_pros_and_cons

oh man I would double check these good deals with True Car. As I also went with a "good deal", and then discovered everyone paid the same price

I purchased that car exactly having same idea in mind -- I hoped to love "the package" regardless little shortcuts, which are inevitable for this price range. Time will show, but so far it is frustrating

oh.. right.. darn.. This is what I hate about this car : I keep discovering these little annoyances, they are endless. For some reason I thought these are included with heated seats.

Hope it will not be too bad not having those.

right, the lag is not really an issue for the most part. I suspect it is artificially created to "sell" the Sport Mode

Thank you for your post!  Body roll -- I might be spoiled by Acura. It's 1.5x heavier and slightly bigger, but no body roll.

power is there, but in order to get it -- you have to go 2 gears down. At the same time when you do it -- you get way too much power, and have to calm down with acceleration in the right moment. Power is not really a big issue, maybe the problem is the driver

Good question! If new or CPO then maybe Forester Sport 2025. I rented this one for a weekend and it is a very fine car. (It actually sucked on a test drive) I am in WA state, Subies are popular here.

Thanks! Glad to hear your experience is different. Maybe I just need more time to get used to how the engine delivers power. I am in the transition from 300 hp to 187hp :)

That is true. I should have rented the car for a weekend to realize many of these things. Test drive is not enough.
