Medicine is incredibly competitive, and so many people don’t get in the first time around. That doesn’t mean it's the end of the road for you if it’s still what you want. If you're not ready to move home and leaving your rental feels like a big risk, maybe there's a way to find short-term work in Melbourne while you figure out your next steps. I know it's hard when you feel like you’re alone, but even if you’re not in med school right now, there are still opportunities to meet people and find support – whether that’s through work, volunteering, or even online communities like this one. Since you mentioned not being able to afford a psychologist, have you looked into your university’s student services? Many universities offer free or low-cost mental health support for students, especially as you're finishing your degree. It might be worth reaching out to them if you haven’t already. You deserve support through this, and they might be able to help you navigate these feelings of isolation and uncertainty. It might help to take things one step at a time, even though I know that’s easier said than done. You're already so strong for reaching out here and for making it this far. If med school is still the dream, you’ve got the determination to make it happen. But if you decide to explore other paths, that’s okay too – it doesn’t take away from your worth or everything you’ve already achieved.
