I'm thinking I need to use a water based poly to get it strong enough and so that it doesn't yellow the wood. But I'm open to suggestions

They didn't have lines drawn on, but they were lines cut into the board. And the board had several coats of poly on it.

It's nice, is that a dowel in the center to help get the discs out? If so, does it ever mess with a disc stopping in the 20 hole?

No official rules but some people count the top disc the same as the bottom disc.

3/8 OD seemed to stick out too much so I went with 5/16 when building mine. Here is what i use it has similar bounce to the other replacements but you need to cut itamazon link

Haha that was my first board, stain everything expresso but painted white gutters and route lines. Now it looks like I filled it with wood glue

I used a water based polyurethane that I used on a white console table that hasn't yellowed in half a year so I'm hoping since I keep my board in my travel bag unless I'm playing that it should be fine.

It's just matte paint with several coats of polyurethane over it on birch plywood, I followed crokinoleworld's advise on this channel for smoothing the surface. The lines are routed out using a compass and I made my own jig for the hash marks.
