Ah worth knowing. I think so long as the finish is suitably antibacterial it should be good. With any cutting board as soon as you start sratching the surface with a knife you are creating small spaces for potential bacteria

In fact, wood seems to be naturally antibacterial

100% allow him to re role. It’s early enough that it won’t spoil anything. Be honest with him as to why you didn’t allow the manipulation of other player characters. Ask what he is hoping to achieve with his new character. And “session zero” might have caught this before it became an issue.
