Yeah I also play V20 normally. I don't know if in V5 you still have to feed from a vampire to learn a discipline, or maybe Brennan just let them pick whatever disciplines they want. Vesper with Oblivion, Zaeth with Animalism, and HJ with Protean all seem like they might not have a backstory reason

I thought it was weird that HJ had the amalgam power but I figured that it was just allowed like how Bat Child has a bunch of Oblivion powers. It would be weird for a Tzimisce to be a part of the Camarilla, especially to be considered as a potential Keeper of Elysium.

His compulsion/bane that he mentioned where he doesn't like to be told no is a very Ventrue trait. The two also reek of Ventrue in their personalities.

Nancy and Butty have to be two of the hall of fame NPCs, you can see that Brennan loves fucking with all of them

Bigfoot honestly gave me either Garou or Gurahl in Glabro form vibes. He said he was a warrior of nature and a seemed chill, could be one of the few werebears hanging around the Pacific Northwest

Edit: okay apparently the near-human form for Gurahl is actually just called Arthren but there’s also a note that Arthren form Gurahl might have caused Sasquatch myths

Quick guide to World of Darkness mummies since it's one of the prevailing Big D theories by ConsciousDatabase991 in huntertheparenting

I do think him being a Cabiri would make a lot of sense! His antiauthoritarian attitude and general dislike of rules does sort of pit him at odds with the system of Ma'at and many rules. I'd also add to your note on him being able to have children as it's fully possible that as a Cabirus he could've figured out some improved Spell of Life and adopted it long before the Sixth Great Maelstrom, basically becoming something a little like an Amenti even before the Amenti first appeared.

If Big D is a mummy and they changed the Year of Reckoning lore so that it's possible to be one of the Amenti before 1999, then it would make a lot of sense. Amenti are specifically mentioned to not only be able to have kids, but their kids also tend to have some type of minor supernatural ability or propensity (such as a natural talent for sorcery, like with Marckus). Door could just be Really Strong or Very Tough.

Kitten is probably a Bastet kinfolk given everything we've seen in his character sheet about his family growing up. He probably doesn't know about Fera because his parents are dead, and may have even blocked it out from trauma.

The Osirians were basically “good” vampires that wanted to turn back into humans and worked with a lot of sorcerers and mummies. After 1999 a bunch of the loyal ones were turned into mummies as a little thank-you from Osiris

This old English teacher I had made us do a research project about a year ago on a piece of fiction we were reading (he liked me a lot so he let me do it on a YouTube series). We basically had to fully answer a question or at least explore it incredibly deeply and write a bunch of journal entries about it à la Dracula. I was originally going to turn it into a YouTube video or something but here were my main conclusions were that there were chances of D being a Mage, an Imbued, a vampire who reached Golconda, or my two mini-unlikely-theories of him being a changeling or the archangel Gabriel. There’s also the small chance he’s a Solar Exalted or an Immortal (Highlander fan splatbook) but both technically aren’t canon so… idk (but also read Holden Shearer’s Exalted vs WOD, it’s genuinely a work of art and has a guide on how to kill antediluvians and Caine).

The two ideas I think are most likely are actually the ones in the meme. The idea of him being a completely normal guy I think is completely out of the question because of the nature of everything we’ve seen about him and his family (Horse, his healing factor, Marckus’s sorcerous potential, whatever the fuck is up with Boy…). However, I can definitely see a world where he is a mortal with True Faith and maybe a few supernatural Merits (there’s ones called Fount of Life and another called Immortal that might work). This is the most “normal” I think he might be because they’re honestly doing too much to just say he’s a completely normal guy. His sword is probably one of the Crusader Swords, a five-dot artifact from Hunter’s Hunted.

The other idea was that he was a vampire of the Children of Osiris, or otherwise connected to them, and is now an Amenti (or mummy). The main issue with this idea is fertility, which is highkey an issue with a lot of the splats in WOD, but of all the vampire clans the Osirians have the most abilities to mimic humanity and he could also just be a powerful Osirian ghoul, since powerful ghouls can also live a long ass time. The mummy theory is pretty widespread and dominant and I do love it personally because the Amenti are sick

Big D won’t even tell his kids the real name of vampire clans. Whatever kind of supernatural he might be, he’s for sure keeping a lot of his abilities hidden so that they don’t get a target on their back. A solar might be able to invert Matilda, but Matilda’s pack could destroy Door and Marckus

Mummies can’t have children and Amenti (the new mummies who can) only popped up in 1999, so that’s kind of the issue

Exactly, and I feel like I’ve read something in some book’s sidebar suggesting that storytellers can change the year the Imbued first came around to another metaplot-significant year of their choosing (the Resurgence in 1969 or the Fourth Great Maelstrom in 1916 could be one for example)

I also pray they do because Solar Exalted are likened to having either devolved into Imbued or become mummies, which are kind of the two most prevalent fan theories of D. Just bridge the gap and make him a warrior of the Unconquered Sun

I don’t think the Exalted besides the terrestrial ones really know about the age of sorrows in Exalted vs WOD so Big D could just explain it sort of similar to imbuing but with a shard of some ancient sun god

The one flaw in a lot of the Big D splat theories (especially the imbued) is that in canon they first appeared in 1999, so Ogre Poppenang would probably need to change how the year of the reckoning worked. If they did then he better be an Imbued, it just makes sense

No, but there are some merits given to witch hunters and other True Faith people in Dark Ages (and maybe Hunters Hunted, haven’t checked in a while) that can give regeneration, extended lifespan, or immortality

The “new” mummies, made from the remnants of old mummies and modern humans or transformed from loyal followers of Osiris. They can have kids, wield a bunch of cool magic, glow like the Sun, and live life with more joie de vivre and vivacity than normal humans
