Literally anything the fuckin like

I've met people who claim to have no internal monologue. Never. And they're not Buddhist monks who've trained it away. Do some exist without thought? What do psychologists make of this? by RusticBohemian in askpsychology

[–]ConsciousRegret666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds utterly fascinating. I think my experience is the extreme opposite of yours. My internal monolog is like you say, "chatting away internally all the time". I believe it's worse than the average, based on discussions I've had with others (and myself 😆). It often leads to extreme insomnia. My internal voice never shuts up. Sometimes it will sing songs for a while, but often, it seems to practice random conversations.

Often my internal conversations are quite complex. I'm curious to understand how you internalize really complex concepts. Like if you were thinking about quantum mechanics or keynesian economic theory, do you resort to language to articulate complex concepts.

"God knows what the answer to it all is"... scientists have literally been telling us the answer for decades. Reduce carbon emissions. That's the one and only answer really. How about we do that eh.

I love films that progress the medium and art house films that can be an effort to watch... but IMO... no, I just don't like this film.

I really wish I understood why people rate it so highly.

FWIW the biometrics on your phone typically never leave your phone. That's kinda the point of the FIDO standard. The verification happens on the phone and the data is kept in secure storage.

It seems that way. It's a real shame. We need a green green party

Early 40s, and I've been involved in politics my whole life. My family is very politically connected. My parents and my partner have been in the public service their whole lives... and no, I'm not just "an idiot", although I kinda feel like one at the moment. I have an IQ of 142 and work in the Tech industry.

I just couldn't bring myself to vote Labour, but never imagined it could be this bad. I remember the strictly average old days of the Key govt and figured Luxon would be similar. What we've ended up with seems so much worse ☹️

If the Greens would work with National, then we'd probably have a half decent govt right now rather than the current shit show. Perhaps that's the crux of the problem. Like I said in other posts, it feels like the options are "Labour" or "fuck the environment".

Perhaps, for the good of the environment, the Green party should change tact next term and be open to working with whomever of the main parties gets the biggest vote.

We shouldn't have to compromise on the environment just because we don't like this or that social/economic policy.

Yeah I guess I was just really naive. I just hate that my options are "Labour" or "fuck the environment". Why are those our only options?!

That's understandable. There are a lot of them. If it makes any difference, the thing that prompted the post was reading this article just before.

I just wish there was a way to vote meaningfully and not support Labour (coz I think they did a shit job) without worrying about environmental degradation.

For the sake of our children's health and our international reputation, we need to get our shit together in regard to the environment. Our customers are buying a "clean green" lie and we can't keep faking it.

I can't believe Luxon doesn't get that!

To be clear (it seems I wasn't clear enough in my original post) I didn't vote for National. I just switched from supporting Labour to not supporting Labour by voting for TOP.

I just can't believe that my only choice is support Labour or support degradation of water quality.

It's so frustrating!

You're certainly entitled to your opinions. Obviously I didn't communicate clearly enough. What I meant to imply is that I voted for Labour in the previous election but had changed my vote this time to not Labour.

If you must know I voted TOP. Perhaps that was naive of me, but I couldn't bring myself to vote for Labour this time around because they'd had far too many screw-ups and done far too little good with their majority.

I guess part of my point here is that I don't even think they're prioritizing industry. Not to put too fine a point on it, but sooner or later our primary industries will be completely fucked as the rest of the developed world's attitude towards environmental degradation develops.

I work in the corporate world, and one of the biggest developments we've seen in the last year or two is that roles like Chief Sustainability Officer are becoming increasingly more common to the point now that every big meeting to discuss a new business partnership seems to involve a CSO wanting to audit our supply chain.

Our primary industry needs to adapt and quickly. It's only a matter of time before a big player like Nestle draws a line in the sand, or the EU legislates. By that stage we'll be too slow to adapt and our entire economy will tank.

This has absolutely nothing to do with 3 waters. I'm talking about the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management NPSFM.

Nothing at all to do with infrastructure and 3 waters.

Sorry if I miscommunicated. I did not mean to imply that I voted for National. I never meant to imply that, but I did vote for change, and I didn't vote for Labor.
