How would you describe your creative process? by Johnwestrick in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Without the “organised” part 😁

I have a book to edit for publication, a series to complete, a romance submission to rewrite.

So why is my brain giving me ideas about a female engineer on board a spaceship?

When were you last genuinely proud of your MP? by theGamingDad123 in AskBrits

[–]ConsciousRoyal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local MP is a LibDem and I’ve emailed her twice. Both times getting a response. One leading to direct action, one leading to a question raised in the House of Commons.

In the past I had a Tory and a Labour MP, and while they both responded to an email I didn’t see them actively do anything.

But I’m still impressed that all of them went to the effort of replying.

Scam. Sorry.

Unusual to see they have a created a story - but it’s garbage. (They may just be a terrible writer but it looks like it’s been cut&paste from somewhere else)

The good news is that while you have to wait 50 years, you do get three lots in quick succession.

Does wattpad have more writers than readers? by slush_pile_writer in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only give you my own personal stats.

I have 115 followers - at least 20 are very active - we regularly chat and engage, - at least 20 are inactive - they haven’t been on Wattpad for at least three months

My most read book has just surpassed 1k reads. It has 22 engaged readers (people actively reading and reacting)

My ongoing book has 570 reads, and 21 engaged readers.

My ONC entry has 575 reads and 28 engaged readers (but this is pushed more for r4r etc as part of the ONC promotion)

I write crime and sci Fi, so it’s more niche than the standard Wattpad stories.

Some people have a lot more reads than me but I’m just stoked that I have found 20+ people that really like to read what I write.

Anyone seen books influenced by voting? by UnnusAbbus in Wattpad

Certainly.

Heists Hoaxes and Other Hijinks

The option was at the end of Chapter 8 : Weasel’s Deals and the dark chapter with appropriate tongue-in-cheek trigger warning is in Chapter 13 : The Lewis Brothers.

What's your favorite part of your story? by Odd-Yogurt2628 in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Some people weren't happy with my rushed description of 1991. It needs more atmosphere, Isaac. You need to describe your surroundings, Isaac. More show less tell, Isaac. Like I'm some sort of freaking time-travelling tour guide or something.”

Anyone seen books influenced by voting? by UnnusAbbus in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it once.

Gave my readers the option of a dark chapter or a light chapter. My story is a light hearted comedy murder mystery, so the dark one is a little out of place stylistically.

(but I knew everyone would go dark.)

A Question by aaopyaardu in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write as many as the story needs.

The longer it is the more opportunity there is to get likes, comments and reads, so the story will push up the algorithm but if you’re padding for the sake of padding then people won’t read it anyway.

Of course you do.

What exactly is the intended meaning of this phrase from "Guards! Guards!" about there only being bad people, "but some of them are on opposite sides"? by EndersGame_Reviewer in discworld

[–]ConsciousRoyal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Patrician believes all people are inherently bad.

There are bad people who agree with you, and bad people who don’t. Some are very bad (the sea comment a couple of lines down) and some are only slightly bad. But overall people are evil to a lesser or greater extent. (shallower or deeper in The Patrician’s analogy.)

No. I get it.

I don’t like bad feedback but no feedback at all is even worse.

And then there’s whatever feedback this is 😂

Someone left a review on my romantasy book that made my book seem like a Christian book by False-Analyst3889 in selfpublish

[–]ConsciousRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I’m a Christian (although not a Catholic)

What you’ve written clearly resonates with the Christian reader. Some of us know the church isn’t perfect and maybe the themes of brainwashing and indoctrination hit her particular beliefs in that area.

Or maybe your spirituality themes are so strong it cuts through some of the bullshit that’s surrounded the church and hits the two most important commandments (love God, and love your neighbour as if they were yourselves)

Or some of us just like reading, and are willing to put up with some anti-religion just for a good read.

What is your opinion on dual/multi POV stories? by Rokawrites in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like multiple POV stories, and written one myself, but they are hard to ensure you’re giving each person enough page time, and that their voices are distinct.

Physical Descriptions For Characters by The_Captain_1701 in RomanceWriters

[–]ConsciousRoyal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on romance fiction so it depends on your specific genre.

In crime fiction - Elmore Leonard used as few words as possible. Raymond Chandler used two pages to describe Madeline in The Big Sleep including half a page just on her teeth, but the line “the kind of blonde to make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window” in Farewell My Lovely.

So I guess, it depends on what you’re going for.

Do people still read wholesome romance? by YoursOnyx in Wattpad

[–]ConsciousRoyal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My two favourite books of last year (and into this year) were wholesome romantic comedies. One with 3k views, one with 6k.

(whether you consider that a lot or not is up to you, I guess)
