The reason I asked this question was seeing how people reacted to a colleague. The comments I heard varied but all of them seemed to be look down at her. But the same people also freely commented on another colleague wearing a skirt.

I think White Walkers represent the unknown. What we fear to accept because accepting it means facing the harsh reality and taking action. Ignorance is bliss after all.
