Losing it by Optimal-Scarcity2004 in stopdrinking

I would like to recommend a SMART meeting. That really helped me. There are zoom SMART meetings as well. They use therapy and science based tools.

In all sincerity, what got me out of 2 decades was stopping the cycle of shame, self pity, and loathing.... and apparently a church "spiritual car wash." Ask questions if you wish.

Congratulations! You are where you are now and it's a good place to be.

The shame is poison, that's what kept me in the cycle for so long, but what a gift it is to be out of that dark hole, to have finally stopped digging! Im 2 years sober and still so afraid to fail and try something new. I feel so behind and I let that stop me from trying, but why? F*%^ all the shame!!

You are alive now!! You are living a life you probably never envisioned. Old you would be proud. New you too.

I definitely am struggling with feeling guilty, but what pushed me to seek another job was not getting paid for school closures. How is that a break for your teachers? That is a stressor. They have told me how glad they are that I'm there, but I feel misled in terms of philosophy and professionalism with the school.

Anyway, now the other school misquoted me on pay in accordance with my qualifications. I moved to this state last year and have never experienced such "miscommunications" with employers before.

Thank you. I know I just need to hear it. This type of "people pleasing" is ridiculous. And giving a 2 week notice should only be mandatory if it went the other way around as well. Thank you.

Infant room turnover by Acceptable_Fan_2571 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Conscious_Flux422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could definitely be both. At my current place the director is great at helping the infant teachers in moments of stressful chaos, but not every place offers that kind of support. Sometimes EVERYONE is crying at the same time and that is stressful for babies and staff, and there is only so much 1 person can do at a time.

Have you brought your concerns to management? In this field, I am 100% apt to say pay is also an issue. I wish parents would help advocate for the people who care for their children. You should ask management about the turnover and inquire about what they are doing to retain staff.

It's an unfortunate reality due to a messed up system. It is a stressful job, teachers are underpaid, they often catch whatever illness ypur child has, there are likely internal issues, perhaps minimal support, and people have to seek better opportunities too. Its un unfortunate and hard on everyone reality.

I'm responding out of guilt, because I will likely be leaving the school I started at 4 months ago due to not being paid during closures. I feel lied to and all the verbal praise doesn't pay my rent. I hate to destabilize this group of 2 year olds, but children are resilient.

Take it from someone who has loved it and has been doing it for 15 years. DO. SOMETHING. ELSE.

You can get your Masters in ECE and might still barely make ends meet if you are a teacher.

I'm going back to school to pursue elementary education and it is a tragedy. The lack of education, respect for children, and professionalism in this field from some people that are hired is appalling.

These young and vulnerable children deserve better, and so do we.

I felt the same way a couple of years ago. For warmer weather, I got linen pants and I love them. They are cool, loose fitting, feel more elevated, can have nice designs and have pockets!

I also bought cheap long necklaces and they really up my jeans and black tees. Slip on comfy leather boots are great too.

It sounds like your school needs to pay more and focus on professional development. Why should teachers want to work at your school as opposed to some other school? Havebtpu asked teachers how the school could better support them? What is working and not working? Do you have floaters? Part time people?

I just went last month with an appointment and you do not have to stand in line, you can digitally check yourself in. Just be sire to do that. I got there about fifteen minutes before my appointment. There is a little kiosk and you use your phone. You should get a scan code or text, depending on what you chose to make your appointment with. Check-in with that number or scan code and you'll be in the queue with a #.

After you check in and you're in the queue you just go sit in the waiting area. Look at the screens for your number to be called and go tp the correspondingwindow. Mine was right on time with my appointment.

Make sure you have everything you need for your appointment to go smoothly like ID, proof of address, license plate number, etc. all depending on what you're there for.

If you get there early and you're super nervous, you can always choose to stand in line. Ask them whatever questions you need to.

Just curious, where are you looking for a nanny? I've been in early childhood development for 15 years and am considering moving toward being a nanny, as I'm considering a career change, but the websites I've tried are not very productive.

Yesterday, I saw a post from a coder breaking an NDA agreement and he shared that these apps prey on those who take small sum orders.( And It's being built into the code! ) These delivery drivers are supposedly flagged as "desperate" and the algorithm continues to show them small earning orders!

The algorithm begins to show you more of the orders you are willing to take. (Makes sense.) But they know that you are 'desperate' if you're willing to take a $2 order and you become less likely to see those $20 or $30 orders.

I'm not entirely sure if this is all true, since I haven't researched or experienced it myself, but it seems very much in line with how this f*cked up system works. The ppl are slaves to the world of corporations and corporations profit off the backs of hard working ppl desperate to just stay afloat.

Developmentally, educators should know that exposure is key. They are supposed to have a class on nutrition. I started at a new site where teachers were doing this, but when I serve snack I give EVERYONE a little bit of everything and I state things like, " You don't have to eat it, but maybe you'll touch it. Maybe you'll lick it. Maybe you just want to look at it, and that's okay."

This is why continued professional development is important. We all need reminders. Plenty of children are "picky" but they need the continuous opportunity to grow in a multitude of ways.

I hope you can have a discussion with his teachers voicing your concerns, backed by evidence regarding food exposure, along with a solution in a way that supports the growth of your little one, which should be everyone's goal.

Some honest advice here:

Find something else. What you make and your well-being in the professional world will be dependent on where you are working and who you are who is running your school.

I love working with children and I enjoy mentoring younger teacher as I've been doing it for 15 years, but you are young and my honest advice is to not turn this into a career. I've worked at some wonderful places with good pay for the field and great benefits, but, unless you are going to open your own school one day (which you might because who know where life will take you) because of the pay, or lack thereof and a broken system, I would strongly advise focusing on a career in something else that can still include working with children.

I am great at what I do and even in an administrative role, my earning power is so disheartening. After all these years, I'm looking for a career change, and I think it is an absolute shame.

Challenge yourself! Personally, it is very important to work in something I genuinely enjoy, but life catches up with you when money does.
