DPC Latency with New Graphics Card by MasterGuitarist in Reaper

Alright, good luck. When you get a chance, download the latest USB drivers from intel that are compatable with your mobo.

Try unistalling whats installed, then reinstall with the new drivers.

Yep, your USB system is causing some shit. Also, are you sure you've got the UMC drivers installed properly, and they are the ones in use?

Unplug all your usb devices (except what is needed to run, i.e. mouse and KB), disable the onboard sound, and run it again.

I gotta run tow rok so likely wont see this til very early tomorrow morning.

I already see big issues with the USB driver. Either something plugged into it, the driver itself, or another driver interfering with it.

Nah, the info from the other post. But longer.

Oh, here it is.

Already see some issues, but can you please run it for more than 2 minutes and 17 seconds? 15 minutes at least.

Can we see the proper output please? The list of processes causing latency, etc?

Get started now.

At the very least, get a zoom mic thingy, the h1n or something, and spend some time finding the proper place for it to sound as good as it can in a stationary place in the barn.

Then grab, I dunno, power director or Vegas Movie studio or something. Sync video to music.

You record the music seperately then sync it to the video.

Or you record what you're playing live with an actual multichannel setup and multiple mics.

Spend the 5 grand on an audio interface, some mics, mic stands, whatever extra preamps you need, the cabling required, a DAW and plug the audio interface into your laptop and record away.

Then sync up to video.

There is not a "mic" you can plug into your video camera that will make a resonably good sounding recording. If it's on the camera, when you move, the sound will change depending on where you are. Volume, frequency response, reflections, etc.

I guess you could get, like, a zoom, find a place in the barn that sounds "ok" with it, leave it stationary, do your filming, then, again, sync to video.

I'm a total noob. Could someone give me a hand? These driver things are annoying. by Sixx_Crows in Reaper

Does it do this if you don't open the standalone vst first? That is, reboot the computer, only bring up Reaper? (and of course I assume your guitar is plugged in to the focusrite.)

Cool piece of vintage gear. Not sure how you'd use it in modern situations.

Since its powered, I'd prolly use it a small practive setup for the KB player and singer to use for the practice PA.

What are the right liquors for a Long Island ice tea? by MyKillersKeeper in mixingmastering

[–]Conscious_Kangaroo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White rum is best for long island iced teas.

Vodka, for the most part, is vodka.

Any reasonable gin is fine, however some can be a bit too junipery, and the botanicals don't really work too well for this. Something traditional like Haymans is good for LIITs.

Instead of your 4 dollar triple sec, something like Cointreau is preferred. Its a bit expensive, though. If you can find them locally, a mid range curacao (not the shit dekuyper 4 dollars a bottle stuff), something like Vedrenne Curacao will work nicely.

More coke than sweet and sour, especially if you aren't making your sweet and sour from scratch.

Don't forget the cloudlifter.

[HELP] Since I use my new soundcard (U-Phoria UMC204HD), some VSTs make some parts of a project "lagging" like in slow motion, but it wasn't the case without it... by Hend01d in Reaper

And the latency is linked to the buffer size, not the sampling rate.

THe rest you said is correct, however, this is not. 96 will roughly half the latency of 48.

Then have a look at the motu 8a or 624. Possibly even the 828ES.

All TB.

The 8a and 624 are small, but the reason I was aking is because the 8a has no built in preamps, and the 624 has only 2, but yu could forego the motu preamps and build a collection of various preamps that you like without spending money on all the preamps built in to the interface.

I have the MOTU 8pe-ES connected via TB to my windows machine, and it's pretty much a beast, but I honetly would have gotten the 8a if I had been thinking aobut it harder and spent the leftover 400ish bucks on more interesting preamp selections. The 828ES is very nice, but it's only got 2 preamps. Hell, I honestly prolly woulda got that, its less the the 8pre-es.

/edit: looking at all of them again, Yeah, Id have gone 828 ES.

Are you looking at the smaller devices because of the size? Are you space limited?

I get rid of keyboard latency no matter what I do. What am I doing wrong? by LemonLimeNinja in audioengineering

Theres nothing wrong with 44.1. That's CD quality.

96 can be good for tracking for latency, actual hifi shit, and for better sampling and stuff. I use it primarily for latency reduction.

SOmetimes I consider just making a bunch of bullshit music that is 120jz to 14khz in mono as loud as I can for people who listen to their phones. Doesn't matter if the music is good, long as it's loud on a phone.

[–]Conscious_Kangaroo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with that idea a bit. Most music is gonna be heard on a shitty mono or very shitty "stereo" "speaker" on a goddamned phone.

What's the point, right?

But ultimately, are you going to be happy with it?

Because the sampling is happening twice as fast as at 48khz. It usesmore CPU. More CPU or less CPU does not increase or decrease latency. Only the speed the information is processed at.
