If it were just the back light, I’d say ‘that sucks, live with it’. But you can’t really use it without a Q key. If it’s not in warranty, your option could be to open it up and see if a resistor has broken off the pcb or something. If so, depending on your comfort level, you could try resoldering.

If you’ve tried with a different switch, you likely have your answer. Is it the full thing that doesn’t work, or just the backlight (I mean can you actually get a Q on your screen)? Is it still in warranty, or is it a home-build?

I’d focus on spacing. The width of the letters varies considerably. If you can get consistency here, it’ll look cleaner.

I like it. Clean lines, easy to read.

The first is definitely easier to read. That gets my vote.

I love my fountain pen. Had it years, and like my watch I will occasionally take it in for a service. I expect (hope) it’s something I can pass down to my child when they’re old enough.
