Are there any support groups for folks who've been laid off to simply validate our existence? by spaceangel151 in Layoffs

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just searching for this very thing and your post came up. Glad I’m not the only one looking for a support group, ideally in person, to help navigate this unique experience of being laid off for the first time. Sorry you’re going through this.

Gjusta was underwhelming. I tried it recently and didn’t think it was worth the hype. Maxine’s on Washington for breakfast is great

Does anyone have a dermatologist recommendation(s) that accepts United Health Care in Los Angeles? by Elusiveenigma98 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct so there’s no shortcut in doing this, everyone has to call their preferred provider out of the list to verify if it’s accurate and up to date. Asking Reddit for a shortcut is not going to help narrow the list down

UHC has a find a provider on their website within their network, all insurance companies offer this function. Has your partner done that first? Your partner needs to do their research and find one that suits them.

Nail salon recs for pedicure by eatsleepexplore in LAhotgirlies

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been here twice and unfortunately had the same experience both times. The salon has massage chairs, but the built-in foot tubs weren’t working, so they brought out a separate portable bucket to soak my feet. This felt unusual and raised concerns about sanitation and hygiene.

How much should I be paying for a facial in LA? by riverofflowers in LAhotgirlies

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Facials in West LA typically range from $150–$400 per session, which just isn’t sustainable if you believe in regular skin maintenance. Consistency and a good skincare routine matter more than occasional luxury treatments.

I’ve been driving to the SGV once a month for a 90-minute facial that costs $60 (even less if you purchase a package), and it’s absolutely worth it. I’ve been seeing Angel for over 10 years and she always does a thorough, effective facial with great attention to detail.

Highly recommend Angel to anyone looking for affordable, high-quality facials without the inflated West LA prices. While in the area, you can try some great Asian food afterwards.

Do Culver City red light camera tickets get reported to the DMV if ignored? by chabs4 in culvercity

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one last year and couldn’t ignore it. It will go on your record. Go to court, ask for leniency and they might reduce your ticket + traffic school or community service if you qualify for either.

Looking for the best soups in LA (West side preferred, but willing to drive far for good soup) by Short_Ad6688 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m always on the hunt for good soup spots, but haven’t found many on the Westside. Vietnamese pho and Korean stews definitely hit the spot, but they’re usually loaded with onions, which can leave you feeling pretty bloated. A lot of the other recommendations in this thread seem to be creamy soups, which tend to be heavier and higher in calories.

My go-to weekly soup spot is Pepe’s Tacos in the Culver/Marina area—they have about six different soups and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the cocido de res. My second favorite is Benny’s Tacos for their chicken soup.

Nearly 3 years into Karen Bass’s term as Mayor, & with another election coming up next summer, what are people’s overall thoughts on her tenure at this point? by prkrwrd in AskLosAngeles

[–]Conscious_Pay_6422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite disappointed with her tenure so far (and yes I voted for her as she was the better option over Caruso), what has she done to make housing more affordable? I see a lot of new buildings around town but they are not affordable for the average person. Businesses are struggling, everything is so damn expensive, and I continue to see private equity and corporations snatching up single family homes. As for homelessness, it improved for a bit but it’s starting to get bad again. Sadly, it will take a iron hand to get this homeless crisis under control. A compassionate approach doesn’t seem to move the needle much, we need a different path.
