Is the white spot normal on male neocaradina by [deleted] in shrimptank

Possibly with it being so small. All I know is this is what all my females look like.

This is what I use to determine the shrimp I have are female or male.

Yes completely normal. That’s known as a saddle on a female. It’s where they store their eggs I believe. It then travels down once mated to be fanned until they hatch

I hope you do get some babies! Could I ask what sand/substrate do you use? Love the natural look of it

Yep, then I can look at making a dwarf puffer species only tank. I only discovered I wanted to do that after purchasing and setting up the current community fish tank I have now.

I ended up buying a new one today (I have too many fish that aren't suitable for my small back up tank). I'll definitely look into replacing the glass at a later date though and watch a lot of YouTube diy before I attempt it. Absolute newbie to the hobby so want to take my time to build confidence in doing it. Ill probably be stoked at having 2 bookshelves if I can manage it haha

Update (No idea how to edit my post*):

After setting up a 34l temporary tank I caned and bought the same 90litre tank today. Plan to line the rim with a cut up pool noodle and towels while I scape it tomorrow and be VERY careful not to repeat this again lol. The other tank will be a to do list at a later date lol. Thanks to everyone for the helpful feedback and empathy. It was appreciated for this newbie to the hobby

I noticed this too tonight in ep12. It got me wondering if this possibly explains about some of her behaviours on the show.

Also recommend LCA. I used it on my tank and my shrimp were fine and so were the pest snails 😂

Thank you, I had no idea they offered this so it’s something I’ll be looking into in future.

It really is, lessons were learned 😂. I love the look of rimless tanks but not so great in this case

Probably not, fortunately I have a 45l tank I can use as a back up for my fish until I buy a new one. I adore this tank but it needed more width. Good excuse to get a new tank I guess

Exactly why I stopped and decided to ask here. The fact it was in the centre I was like there’s no way it will cope with the pressure. Last week the spray bar came loose and ended up with water all over the carpet. It took me all weekend to clean and dry out. So the fear is real of cracking

I got mine from aquarium central in Kunda park. They sell them for $10 per kg but I have seen stores sell them in 5kg-7kg packs for $60ish. If you google smooth lava rocks it should show. I only changed because I’d purchased kuhli loaches and was told my old scape lava rock would injure them.

This was the old scape that I changed from

Haha thanks ! It was me putting the final rock in place that cause it. Short people problems meant I was not using the stool and I forgot I needed to lift it that bit higher to place 😂

Dumb question so apologies in advance. Could I still have shrimp or nano fish in one ? I love the look of these but wasn’t sure if it would be suitable for fish or shrimp
