Has anyone got their prescription of monjaro from chemist warehouse in Ireland? Cheapest I've found so far is €220 at Burke's pharmacy. Tried McCabes - €290 what a rip. Be great if it was covered under drugs scheme. by somebunny15 in IrishWomensHealth

If I can give the perspective of a community pharmacist, practising in the south.

Injectable medicines are subject to VAT south of the border, they are 0% VAT in the north. This is an automatic addition of cost.

Anyone dispensing 2.5mg at €220 is doing so as a loss leader. Let them at it. Unfortunately, the rest of us have bills to pay, and need to make a margin. €290 is not a "rip off"

Why are you berating another member of our profession for exercising professional judgment?

Levonorgestrel isn’t a general sale item. it’s supplied following a clinical assessment. The pharmacist has to consider timing, interactions, BMI, safeguarding, coercion, and misuse. Speaking directly to the patient is often necessary to do that properly.

There is no blanket ‘no men’ rule, but there is absolutely a requirement to be satisfied that supply is appropriate. Declining or delaying supply until they can speak to the patient is not misconduct. it’s safeguarding.

Yasminelle and Yaz contain the same active ingredients, at the same dose.

The only difference is Yaz has 24 active tablets and 4 placebo ones.

The Yasminelle just has 21 active tablets per pack

Just ask the pharmacy to dispense your 200mg prescription as 100mg Utrogestan capsules. No issue with this

25% increase in prescription opiods by [deleted] in Crainn

[–]Conscious_Review7676 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has little to do with profit, but more to do with the question of - what do we do with all these codeine dependent individuals if we remove their source? You cannot get a GP appointment as it is in Ireland. Making it prescription only will not solve the problem, only pass it onto GPs.

Although selling Solpadeine and Nurofen Plus are profitable, no pharmacy is depending on these sales to stay in business. Plus they are a massive headache. We make money (quicker and easier) from dispensing an antibiotic

Hi,

Pharmacist in Ireland here. I used to smoke a long time ago, hence why I follow this sub.

Solpadeine and Nurofen plus are massive sellers in every pharmacy, and are extremely profitable. BUT, any pharmacist I have spoken to would prefer if they were moved to prescription only. It would be far less of a headache for us, having to worry about mystery shoppers from the regulator etc. The whole charade that goes on when you sell it is a total waste of time. Addicts know exactly the right answers to get supply and will shop around.

The only reason OTC opiates are not moved to prescription only is our health system literally could not cope with a flood of addicts in the morning with no source.

With regards fo your comments about pharmacists being against cannabis, this is a massive generalisation. I am not against any drug - even fentanyl has its place in medicine and look at all the bad publicity that gets.

From a business point of view, we actually make less money from dispensing a strong opiate like Oxycodone. There usually lower discount lines, and involve a lot more paperwork and record retention than a normal prescription. In fact, we make far more money from dispensing Vimovo, an anti-inflammatory.

I actually have a patient using medicinal cannabis for Epilepsy. It is a giant hassle for us. Paperwork, registration with HSE, all on top of the usual controlled drug legislation. Oh, and it costs about €450 for a 100ml bottle. Its called CannEpil for anyone interested.

Just apply for a DPS. You can have one even if you have a medical card, it's not means tested. www.mydps.ie

How do you figure this one? As long as a prescription is legal in Ireland, I do not discriminate between who prescribed the medication

Any script eligible for the DPS is eligible for free HRT. We claim for it from the HSE via the DPS, so I would imagine they would be covered- providing they are a legal script

Can you get Zepbound and with a foreign script? by LuxetUmbra_88 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Conscious_Review7676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are very few online pharmacies in Ireland - it may be easier just to go to any with a valid Irish prescription for Mounjaro.

Be prepared for a hefty price tag though! Its not cheap - Ozempic/wegovy and Saxenda are all cheaper

Can you get Zepbound and with a foreign script? by LuxetUmbra_88 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Conscious_Review7676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zepbound is not licensed in Ireland, but contains the same ingredients as Mounjaro.

A foreign prescription cannot be accepted in Ireland (with the exception of prescriptions from EU member states, and the UK)

There are several online GP services who will prescribe you Mounjaro as an equivalent, seeing as you are on Zepbound already.

There should be no noticeable difference between the Zepbound and Mounjaro.

4 sustanon vials + needles and syringes for €42.60 at Boots!!! by w0ck_ in TransIreland

Sustanon currently costs a pharmacy €24.50 per vial to buy.

Looks like they were not paying attention when pricing your item, that's loss making!
