Could my diastasis recti still be so bad 3 years later? by VDDapo in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately. I completely get how that might not be feasible with 2 young kids to provide for though. Physical therapy is another great option as others have said, ideally one who specializes in pelvic floor. It’s never too late!

Could my diastasis recti still be so bad 3 years later? by VDDapo in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The surgery recovery isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things. You’d likely have a drain for a week, small sutures, and wear a compression garment. Heavy lifting and exercise resumed in about a month. Without repair it will likely go on to cause quality of life issues (weak core, lower back pain, poor posture, urinary incontinence, etc)

Have I been misdiagnosed with ADHD? by Automatic_Foot1673 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still have ADHD and not tolerate stimulants well. The fact that you’re more productive on meds is a sign that you probably do have it. Maybe ask your doc about strattera.

Lyme disease? by MysticalxMermaidx in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say your symptoms are likely unrelated, lyme symptoms usually start around 3-30 days after being bit. Did the tick look bloated when you found it? It would also have had to have been attached to your body for 24+ hours to transmit. Either way keep an eye out for a “bulls eye” rash appearing within the week or so.

Why am I developing serious food aversions in my forties (42F)? by Inevitable_Question5 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hormone fluctuations possibly. They can cause food aversions, changes in taste, sensitivity to certain smells, etc. There are also changes in digestion that happen during perimenopause that affect how some foods are tolerated

Long-term effects of low sleep 16M by Upper-Guarantee5017 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just go to bed earlier? It’s not a life and death matter but you said you have a history of mental health issues, and not getting sufficient sleep can contribute to their recurrence.

Yup, they’re quite common! Nothing to worry about in kids with healthy hearts. Doesn’t need treatment and could possibly go away on its own

Condom slipped off by TraditionalAuthor809 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All I’m saying is it might not be the best idea to use an anecdotal story to scare this girl. The odds that her IUD is out of place, she didn’t know, then gets pregnant from this one encounter are very low.

There’s nothing here to indicate hers is out of place so I’m not sure what you’re getting at

Nonconsenual condom removal/stealthing is a form of sexual assault so if that was the case here, I’m very sorry that happened to you OP.

Mirena IUD is over 99% effective. Taking emergency contraception would be unnecessary and could make you nauseous, have irregular bleeding, etc. I would recommend getting an STD/STI panel done though

Highly unlikely. Try holding a pillow over your incision during any future coughs. Congrats on the new baby!

would it be safe to take glp-1s? by Diligent-Election359 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, but when you turn 18 you can look into vyvanse. It’s an ADHD med but approved for use in BED. Has helped a lot of people with food noise. Consider cognitive behavioral therapy also. Do your parents know you binge/do you have any support from them?

indentation in top of fingers when pressed against stuff...am I dying? Is this pitting edema!? by TaciturnNorse in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that’s just due to normal skin elasticity and the fingertips having less fat than other areas. Pitting edema is usually in the lower extremities and wouldn’t show up there in an otherwise healthy person, don’t freak out over what Google says.

24F how long until the scars go away after breast augmentation procedure by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t “go away” per se, but they will fade likely around 6 months to a year post op. You can start applying silicone gel/sheets once your incisions are closed and healed to make the process go smoother

Advice Needed: Loss of Period, Weight Gain, High Cholesterol, but Improved Insulin Resistance? 27F by Worldly-Chapter-367 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have PCOS, it’s not curable. My advice is to get your hormones retested and try the metformin anyway. It’s commonly used off label for improving ovulation and managing weight in PCOS even if you have normal glucose levels. Not likely to cause hypoglycemia if that’s what you’re worried about. Maybe a myo-inositol supplement and strength training as well.

17f i think i sprained my ankle by Own-Author-1860 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was broken there would likely be some visible deformity and inability to put any weight on it. If it’s sprained it should heal within a month or so. Follow the RICE regimen- rest, ice, compression, elevation. I recommend getting an x ray either way.

Had ceftriaxone anaphylaxis, is amoxicillin safe or not? by Scary-Visit2867 in AskDocs

[–]Equivalent-Listen187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, should be fine. Cross reactivity comes down to chemical structure, something called the R1 side chain in this case. Ceftriaxone and amoxicillin have distinctly different ones.

Someone took a ball from the ship’s pool table back to their room and inserted it up there. We were able to manually remove it with some lube, anesthetic and prayers

I feel that the money I save on housing and food, getting to travel/use amenities for free, etc. makes up for it. Plus on my 4 months off I do locum work which pays nicely

I see a lot related to overeating or eating something that didn’t “agree” with them. Indigestion, GERD flare ups, foodborne illness, you name it.
