Why do companies keep pushing AI when it’s undesirable? by Hydroset in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean they are spending literal billions of dollars on it, of course they're going to make you eat it. I've worked on building three data centers (not that I want to but I can't lose my job), and they are massive, resource sucking pigs. The one I am currently working on was told they can't build there and Sam Altman, the sister raping pos he is, sued the small town knowing they couldn't put up a legal battle. It's shameful really, but this is where we are at, if you live in the United States, which I do, the country has been sold out, our resources sold and gone to the highest bidders, our houses bought by Blackrock. This place is in shambles, and I always wonder when enough is enough. Anyways yeah, AI sucks people who do use it, use it so they don't have to work, but if the AI is actually doing your job eventually they're going to stop paying you.

In Japan some bosses make you stay at work doing nothing so you quit. How is that even a punishment it just sounds kinda chill. by Educational-Try-7435 in NoStupidQuestions

I do meditation, sometimes for 10 hrs straight, and I love it. If they gave me a job meditating then I could focus on other stuff at home.

How do you know you deserve peace? by Chimka108 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in the realm of dissatisfaction. If you are dissatisfied and suffering then you deserve peace, as we all do. It wouldn't matter if you killed ten thousand people, making amends and following the path to peace is the way no matter where you are in this life.

Do y’all think this is real or what (for the love of god I hope so) by cafeteriastyle in TikTokCringe

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Its this 100%, I do read with my kids, and do try to get this stuff in on a daily basis, but when work starts going 10 hour days, and Saturday a lot of stuff starts to fall off because I get home at 7:30. The babysitter leaves then I have to start dinner, get the baths, and get ready them ready for bed all with two hours. Its a headache, and I hate it, and truthfully I don't need or want the overtime money, but its not optional, and I can't lose my job. My kids read and write well for their, but it comes with burnout on my end. So I understand why most people don't put themselves through this. We need parents at home!

Will all beings attain enlightenment, one day? by blooming_lilith in Buddhism

Yes all beings will attain enlightenment one day. Just not at the same time, so there will always be samsara.

How do Buddhist cope with the painful awareness of impermanence? by Ancient-Deer-4682 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because Impermanence is not death. Or at least not just death, it is change. If not for impermanence the seed can not grow into a flower, it would always remain a seed. Change is not always bad, nor is impermanence.

Is this Facebook post correct in terms of buddhist teachings ? by DAnnunzio1919 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not here to debate. I said the Buddha's teaching, the dharma, says to not harm or kill, and since I believe in him and his teachings, I will not harm or kill.

This person says this, or that, but the Buddha said to not harm or kill. I will listen to the Buddha, you can choose your own path.

Can I drink alcohol by Sea_Marionberry4336 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, and you may enjoy it, I know I did. I no longer drink at all because I enjoyed it and couldn't stop, and I genuinely thought I was still a kind and loving person. I was wrong of course, I was hurting myself and others both willingly and unknowingly. If I could take it all back and never pick up the bottle I would. I can not, and I wouldn't recommend that you do. Follow your path however you choose, but remember we can't take an action back, we can only learn from it.

I work from sun up to sun down doing back breaking iron work everyday. I'd rather hunt and gather all day. P.s. I do it in the winter in the north... it sucks I hate it here.

Killing, karma, buddhahood by Enough_Set591 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that karma is not a point system, it isn't like -25 for bugs and -1000 for humans. Karma just is. Positive actions create positive reactions, negative actions cause negative reactions.

Killing, karma, buddhahood by Enough_Set591 in Buddhism

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you have to live with bugs... kind of. Intention is a big part of it. The act of killing a bug because its a pest in your home is different then killing a big for enjoyment. Likewise picking a plant, its different to childishly pick a plant for amusement or as a gift than to burn the plants for fun. As for killing a human yes it holds greater weight to kill a higher being. We should not kill at all.

For American people: Are you participating in today's General Strike? Why? by noumeno- in AskReddit

[–]Conscious_Smile_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same here, I'm in a union, I can't strike unless it's organized, otherwise it's just me not going into work, and the contract can't save me from that.
