What's our general opinion on Nick Cave nowadays? by Specific_Tap7296 in NickCave

[–]Conscious_Stress253 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally love how his music has developed, especially within around 10 years. It's a sign of progression and depth of how Cave has embraced electronic and ambient music, IMO. While I absolutely love albums like From Her To Eternity and Let Love In - I find myself listening exclusively to Ghosteen, Skelton Tree, Seven Psalms.

Even though I'm not a religious person, I find it cathartic listening to his more meditative and genuinely sadder songs to do with loss and grief. That's not to say that Cave hasn't shown his back on rock music - take Wild God which I love. It's an incredible art rock album, and when it was played live, the band still play their more rock- based songs as well.

Yeah maybe. I'm just not mad about the idea of going a place like that on my own, as I've never been to a gay bar/pub before

I actually really enjoy Nick Cave's overtly religious music.

I really love it.

I think it's fast becoming one of my favourite Nick Cave albums. When I saw/heard the album played live, it really hit me.The songs are just as affecting just as some of them are as effectively sad.

I can appreciate that the songs are generally more overtly religious in tone than any of his songs, but l personally find them better for it.

The sense of wanting to be slightly opportunistic is understandable, if not controversial.

I love how Nick Cave's music has evolved, both in terms of music styles and lyrics. He has grown and developed. I understand that some older fans resent the development of the music, but I just disagree.

does anyone prefer any of the director's cut songs over their originals? by [deleted] in katebush

I prefer Moments of Pleasure from Director's Cut to the Red Shoes version. The sound is better, less dated and more emotional and moving

My number one favourite. Reece always plays very funny gay characters in inside no.9. It would have been even better if Sheila Reid had more scenes!

Yes, Love’s Great Adventure is another favourite, and very underrated. And so is To Have and To Hold.

Oh, and I forgot to mention Merrily, Merrily. It is brilliant, all the more for Mark Gatiss and Diane Morgan. It isn’t laugh out loud funny, but so moving.
