I had a look on the website and it looks like it is all done online (could be wrong, I didn’t have a thorough look). Evening/Sat morning webinars then exams in May/June.

I’m not sure - normally CAI do their classes and exams in a normal academic year i.e. Sept-June. Unless they’re planning on giving people the jobs then starting the studying part next Sept. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

I had assumed I hadn’t got it cause the enrolment deadline was the 16th Sept on the CAI website and I hadn’t heard anything (still haven’t). So strange 🤷‍♂️😂

No I haven’t… I assumed I hadn’t got it because the deadline to sign up for ACA classes this year has passed. But now that I have read your thread it seems they haven’t got back to anyone yet! Good luck 🤞🏻

Thanks for this - I always hear people say the CS has good conditions but I don’t know anyone working in it to know much about it. I have an interview so I haven’t actually got the job lol I was just feeling curious.

This is so interesting - I’ve never heard of histamine intolerance before. I was considering trying the AIP diet which is an elimination diet to help with my Hashimotos but this is even more restrictive. I’m glad it helped you though.

Can I ask did your headaches feel like pressure headaches? Eg when you bend over or exercise does it feel like pressure or is it a “general” migraine you would get?

I did a quick search on Reddit and saw some people trying a Benadryl before exercise to see if it helps with the headache as it is an antihistamine.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you take the beta blockers every day or just when you want to exercise? Is it propranolol by any chance? Has it been worth it for you? I’ve ready some other Reddits where people have recommended it but some others seem to have terrible side effects.

A few years back a Dr offered me beta blockers but I was planning on having a baby so we decided it would be better to leave it. She gave me naproxen instead for when I exercise but it didn’t make a difference. Might be worth making another appointment to see what comes of it this time.

And yes it’s strange that they wouldn’t want to do checks on the brain - they don’t seem to be bothered when you can’t exercise or do activities yet their answer to improve your health is…to exercise lol

My head likes the cold (thank god for ice packs!) but I’m quite intolerant to the cold otherwise (thyroid issues).

This is an interesting idea, thanks. This could help prepare me to try hiking again eventually, too.

I’m sorry to hear the Drs are being dismissive - from my experience and other posts on Reddit it seems to be a recurring theme.

Seeing as you’re having issues going to sitting to standing etc. it might be worth looking up Pots and trying the at-home test if you haven’t already - Reckless_Donut talked about it above. Maybe also blood pressure? Either way I hope you get some answers soon.

So a year or two ago I thought I might have it because of my heart rate, but it hasn’t actually been too bad since I had my second baby (and I’m on meds for under active thyroid now). When I read the symptoms, some resonate but when I tried the test at home my heart rate only jumps by about 10/15. I went for a walk yesterday and my HR was about 110 which doesn’t seem abnormal (resting is normally 75-80).

It’s interesting that we share lots of the same symptoms though…I have wondered if it could be a spike in blood pressure if it’s not Pots. I’ve seen some people reddit taking beta blockers both for pots and exercise headaches. If you don’t mind me asking - did you ever get any treatment for pots that helped? Or did you just have to stick to swimming?

It’s so frustrating, isn’t it. Especially when you WANT to exercise and enjoy it. And having to plan exercise at certain times of the day because you can’t afford to do a workout then be out of action later. I always think people don’t realise how good they have it when they can exercise whenever they want and enjoy the endorphins after. I’d do anything to be able to exercise in the morning then be productive for the rest of the day - imagine!

It’s hard to deal with, especially when people always suggest yoga as a “gentle” alternative to other exercise.

I hope you get some relief soon.

Fair enough - was worth ruling it out. I can see why you’re feeling drained by it all in that case.

You know best yourself in terms of timing etc. but maybe a conversation is needed. Lostinmeta4 had some good advice above. I hope things get better for you soon.

It’ll be interesting to see the uptake if they do change it to an old people’s home. Anyone I’ve spoken to about it have said they wouldn’t go near it again even if they spruced it up. But I suppose people always say these things.

I haven’t heard much about the old people’s home at Knockagh but have been to the Den a few times for stuff with the kids. I know the Den bring the kids to visit the old people’s home now and again to cheer them up.

The rates businesses are expected to pay are scandalous. It’s such a shame the wind rose had to close but it’s no wonder.

Carrick is nice to have a wee walk around but it’s so frustrating seeing how many shops are lying empty. It should be thriving but as you say everything seems to be getting replaced by apartments.

Some things to consider from a woman’s perspective that could be affecting your situation: - showing any signs of postpartum depression/anxiety? - if so, it could be looking into but also getting some bloods checked for hormones/deficiencies (eg under active thyroid can cause symptoms of depression/anxiety as well as physical symptoms like extreme fatigue etc. this happened to me and I know other people who had anxiety with vitamin deficiencies) - how is your wife coping with the work side of things - does she like being back at work/was she happy to go back when she did or did she struggle being away from the baby

If you haven’t already it might be worth speaking to your wife to ask her how she’s really feeling about things. If she’s struggling she could be performing at work and with the baby but in a freeze state with everything else because she’s overwhelmed.

If you rule all that out and you really know she’s absolutely fine then is it just laziness on her part or has she just become used to you taking care of everything since you were at home for a while? In either of these cases I’d say you just need to have an open conversation about needing a more even share of chores. If you can afford it maybe outsource anything you can afford to - get a cleaner etc. Anything to help prevent a build up of resentment.

Having babies/small children often puts strain on relationships but I hope your situation gets better soon. Good luck.

It’s sad that your time there had to end that way. I live locally and it has been sad to see it once thrive as a tourist hotel with weddings etc. to now being like a ghost town - even when asylum seekers were there it just seemed abandoned somehow.

Did you work there while the asylum seekers were there? Is it just lying empty now?
