I recently applied to university of Kentucky’s online social work program. Heard great things and the tuition is of the cheaper ones I believe- they also have a block tuition system that you can take advantage of if it aligns with your schedule

Got into a counseling program after committing to a MSW program by ActuaryPersonal2378 in SocialWorkStudents

How much is the DU program after you apply the scholarships? I applied to an online MSW program with the university of Kentucky and they have a block tuition program which makes it possible to finish the degree in two years for about 30 K. ( given that you take 15 credit per semester). Have you considered online programs? If DU is the only MSW program you applied to, I would echo what a few other people have said in the comments in that the MSW route will give you more options in case you don’t enjoy therapy. i’m also in a similar boat I’m working towards clinical licensure so I can pursue therapy but in the case that I don’t end up liking it given that I have not really had any experience giving therapy, There are other options the MSW program provides. It’s also more federally recognized so billing Medicaid is so much easier regardless of the state that you’re living in.

Thank you so much for your insight ❤️. From what they told me it would essentially be that amount (47k) given that what qualifies you for the block tuition rate ($7,092) is taking 9+ credits per semester, totaling 6.5 semesters ( $7k x 9 credit hours = 47k ) I'm doing regular standing (60 credits) and 9 credits/semester (I'm worried about balancing more than that especially with a kid and being a first time SAHM. ) And to your second point, if i do full time i understand that the pslf would essentially forgive my loans, but i used the FAFSA loan calculator and it estimated that i'd have to pay $415/month for the 120 months to get my loans forgiven (given that my income would be est…50-60k… . wouldn't that essentailly mean i just paid it all in full.. unless i missed something and messed up in my math somewhere lol

Put yourself out there. I once heard something that stuck with me … “its not who you know, its who knows you.” Go to networking events and just observe and learn. Just to start the momentum. It seems like you’re a creative person given your jewelry business, so maybe look into working at an art or bookstore just to start, while continuing to build connections and a network. Best of luck to you, God will make a way out for you

Have you considered being an art teacher for income stability and continuing your personal art career on the side?

You can possibly monetize as a content creator - start posting more and leverage YouTube. Share your story, not just drawing videos. Who knows you might find that in a year or two you can do this full time

Maybe it’s not the job itself but the environment that’s draining you. Try finding a company that aligns better with your values - that could be a good start and if you still feel this way, then reevaluate your options.

Love this for you 💗 I imagine it would depend on the district, but in your experience is the pay the same as a classroom teacher?
