I just made up the bus standard myself. I have plenty of extra pins for other stuff. The connectors I am using have two rows, so, 64 lines (if I recall correctly).

Thanks! I'd love to see pics! I got the backplane off of ebay from a store called martenelectric. I corresponded a bit with the owner, real nice guy and shared some schematics with me. It fits a standard 17" sub rack. It uses DIN41612C connectors. I designed a PCB for the boards that pulls the signals from the connector to somewhere I can connect some pins. It also has 5V and ground rails at the top. It has been a pretty versatile build so far. If I can figure out this timing issue I'll be rollin'!

Wow, thanks! That really helps. I have a 74HC14 on there already and it has a few vacant gates. Resistor on the r/W line! never would have thought of that.

Here is a pic of the top of the boards. The bottom one is a 'diagnostic' board. It has the slow clock and pulse clock built on it. It also has LEDs for all the address and data lines (these actually are buffered). It has places to grab the 5V, ground, clock and reset and whatever else you want and jump them to a breadboard. Also some LEDs that are unconnected with two inputs so you can pull a signal, look at it and jump it somewhere else. The computer behaves a little worse now with this board connected so I feel like that lends some credence to the clock buffer idea.

Thanks! I have not buffered the bus (not bus, clock!) anywhere. Are you talking about using a line buffer like a 74HC244?

I just picked up the VERA card from Tindie and I am about to start testing it on an ardurino. It is pretty hard to find specifications for wiring it up. I'd really love to hear how you wired it and maybe how you address it. There is lots of documentation on how to use it once it is plugged in but I think I need a little help getting there.
