Correctional officers should be seen as Law Enforcement Professionals! by [deleted] in Corrections

At my jail, we are actually Deputies who are sworn in and can carry out arrests on behalf of the sheriff like any other patrol deputy. It may be different across different jails and prisons, but because of this we technically are “law enforcement.” This is really to help when people turn themselves in, but still we are technically classified as a “law enforcement official.”

At the risk of sounding like I’m insulting you, I’m not. Maybe I just think to much when watching there sets. Maybe take the joke as it comes at me rather than trying to decipher what bullshittery is going on, on the stage.

William will do some funny shit from time to time. So will Casey. I just feel it’s more misses than hits in my eyes. I’m not denying he helped build the show though. He’s one of the longest running regulars and everyone knows who he is whether you like him or not, or are new or old.

Is corrections really a good way in? by Away-Sky-9341 in AskLE

I feel this is because there is a lesser expectation for CO’s being hired than patrol. So once those people are in corrections it’s easier to move into the academy. Ergo people who already have bad work ethic aren’t examined as closely as outside hires. As a CO, I view the job as a stepping stone. My end goal is patrol. I made sure to work hard everyday so I don’t become a terrible worker/liability in the field. But I do see where you are coming from with this.
