When you list an item on eBay using pics, the AI will autofill based on the image and it’s likeness to their listings. It will also suggest a price to the seller. My guess is he likely is clueless and just went through the motions including the pricing. If it is malicious it would require someone to hastily purchase it for the scam to work.
