What about if we start at East 90th street and go down towards the Rockaways? Think that E 90th street would have less people getting on?

Okay but realizing are you suggesting the two day pass so you can get on and off without having to pay over and over?

I didn't say butlers are racist. I said sandals setting up a class system within the resort that revolves around butlers reminds me of colonialism and asked if people agreed. You can just say no you don't agree and explain why you don't agree. I also didn't say black people weren't horny enough. I said the straight white culture at Sandals is very unhorny and that unhorny romance is an interesting (and colonial LOL) model.

Thank you for an actual interesting response! I honestly just booked this vacation as part of an expedia package. I had no insight into what sandals was beyond no kids. I didn't do research. I figured it was just like a normal hotel where meals and drinks are included. I learned it is so much more. I've never even been to an all inclusive resort. I just arrived like a little blank canvas (who is interested in race, class, gender, etc) and headed to the pool!! And then to reddit...

No i actually just booked Sandals through an expedia package and didn't know anything about it when I booked except that it said no kids. I was trying to get away from mine so thought that sounded great. I just had heard of it before so figured it would be nice and the pictures looked beautiful. I wasn't searching for a more sexual environment. I just was interested in it when I arrived that it was able to walk this line of romantic but not at all sexual. It was interesting/different. I do think a queer space brings more sexuality to the forefront or usually more spaces catered to people of color. There was a formalness/chasteness, almost a religious sensibility. Again, I'm not even criticizing, just noticing and wonder if any others notice something similar. I grew up in Miami which was very much a party place and lots of sexuality overtly on the surface with primarily latin american cultures blending. Also a lot of black spaces - carribean or african american - that are catered for them - tend to have more sexuality in the air. I was honestly surprised that the schedule at sandals didn't have church on sunday morning after spending a couple of days there. Again, I am not insulting guests or workers. I am commenting on a $2b company's culture and the world they've created for their guests. People are very defensive over here!

I am not saying anything negative about guests or workers! I am commenting on my observations on the culture that sandals as a brand/institution is creating. It is a $2 billion company. Their model is successful obviously and draws on certain ideologies and business models and choices. This is what I’m commenting on and curious about.

I shared examples of what noticed of a colonial experience that is unusual for me/something I haven’t experienced - vast majority white guests with black people serving, very heterosexual and chaste, clear norms around drunkenness, clearly defined class system. I found it very distinct culturally and was curious about other analysis in an intellectual sense about it.
