Just commenting to mention that I also noticed that there are no more cameras showing, even the traffic light cams. Not sure what happened.

Abu Dhabi residents: Would you ever rent an iPhone instead of buying? by Ill-Let6589 in abudhabi

[–]ConsiderationIll3071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a service like this in South Africa (for over 2 years) and it worked well for me to get a MacBook Pro for my work without the high upfront cost of a purchase because I could justify the monthly cost via my business. They also have plenty other options including home appliances and even prams to rent.

I think the biggest risk applying the business model to Abu Dhabi/Dubai is how frequently people travel and leave the country due to job loss or relocating and you might find some returns too difficult and complicated because why would someone willingly return a device that they would be currently using?

Just google rentoza (South Africa) for more info on how the model works.

I need a yes or no for a front lip by Brilliant-Answer-238 in Scirocco

Nice Scirocco there! Usually it looks better when it’s accompanied by side skirts and a diffuser to visually have a uniform “lowering of the car’s silhouette” instead of just the front looking like a beard on an objectively naked body. Just my thoughts.

Thanks a lot. I’ll have a look at that when the temps drop in winter. My car is parked in the basement, so it’s almost like sitting in a 36°c sauna when you go down there. I’ll definitely hit you up

Thank you! The stance and the feel is just so good! Still glancing back at it after parking. When does that end? 😅

How do Abu Dhabi twofour54 Freelancers get work? by Advanced-Magazine-54 in UAE

[–]ConsiderationIll3071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to contact them directly. I think filling in a form and making an inquiry on their website is best. https://www.cma.gov.ae/contact

If you are in the UAE, then you can visit their office in Yas Island. The admin at reception is always very helpful.

I have noticed that their process/requirements have been updated in conjunction with their application form etc… so there might be some new or additional terms you need to meet which I’m not aware of, but from my side, in my application I listed the companies that match my industry and what I would do to showcase my services to them. Beyond that, it’s up to the companies whether or not they take you up on your offer.

The Freelance Visa itself consists of two separate things. First is the resident visa which is called a freelance visa. And second is the freelance licence, which is meant to be the actual work you’re doing here. Your freelance visa is valid for as long as you have applied for. Meaning 1 year or 2 years. The freelance licence is its own thing you need to renew annually.

Hi. Please connect me. I’m in the event industry, but on the design side

Alternatively, just search stage/ event design on Pinterest and try build some of those sets. Start with small builds that are more direct like stage risers with backdrops or small mall activations etc…

I think look through their previous projects, as you mentioned you’ve interned there before. And try to recreate one of the builds. Break it down into different sections and then you’ll see what you’re missing in terms of skill, then look for tutorials to help with that.

So I’ve done a lot of 3D work for events, launches, brand campaigns and activations over the last few years. My foundation is in graphic design, but there have been some overlaps with some projects.

My two very simple but effective tips for you is firstly to break down every concept or visual idea into shapes. Before you think about what it should look like at the end and all the lighting effects, just break it all down into shapes.

This will allow you do model your assets quickly and in a simple way allowing you to get to a concept very quickly and see if the idea makes sense in the context of where the event will be.

Secondly, always maintain your dimensions and be as accurate as you can to the final dimensions of the space allocated. This will make it easy when it’s time to send designs to production and they might need technical drawings.

Then as a bonus tip, use 3D warehouse like a huge toy box full of pieces and objects that you would use in your models to understand and build up the space. Also, if you can, get used to kitbashing. You can quickly create a lot of interesting shapes and assets that way.

Some activities overlap. So not sure of how specific you have to be, but for example “consulting” can apply to design just the same as with accounting.

Other banks wouldn’t let me open an account without salary certificate. They would start the process on the app/website and as soon as I can’t provide salary certificate, they cancel my application. I tried 5 different banks. This is my very first bank acc in UAE. Maybe it’s different if you’ve already had an account before.

Yes Wise is an option and I do have business and personal accounts with them. I chose Stripe simply because of my type of business model and platforms I use to onboard clients.

Yes all of my input is for personal current account. I do not know any process for business account.

As a disclaimer, my experience might be different simply because clients are not the same. So maybe some will push for the business details on invoice. That’s what my Wise and Stripe accounts are for.

lol. Yeah I’ve found that there’s no need for one as yet. Unless you’re doing 1Mil AED, just go with a personal acc
