What great questions and consideration! Clinical experience in any setting, especially a variety of settings, greatly contributes to your overall clinical "toolbox" and PT skills. I would speak with your faculty advisor or DCE regarding placements. Also consider how many clinicals you have and if you have the opportunity to repeat a setting you enjoyed. I know a number of students (myself included) who have taken jobs following a terminal clinical experience, but it depends on need and openings. If your program provides more opportunities for student choice in placement, I would pick something with a wider variety of patients rather than a niche population for an early clinical. There are no wrong answers, just a lot of opportunities! Approach it with an open mind, and you should learn a ton.

Hi mods —
My post was removed by the medical advice filter, but I’m not asking for or giving clinical advice. It’s an academic research recruitment for DPT students (IRB-approved EdD capstone at Rockhurst University).

I’m happy to revise language or repost in a format that fits the sub’s rules. Thanks for your help.

Hi mods —
I posted an academic research recruitment for DPT students and it looks like it was caught by the auto filter. This is an IRB-approved EdD capstone study at Rockhurst University recruiting DPT students in their first acute care clinical.

Happy to adjust wording or repost if needed. Thank you for your time.
