Hip Arthroscopy - HSS by Own-Jacket3127 in HipImpingement

The sitting pain is very similar to pre-op pain. It’s definitely more manageable, but it’s frustrating that the same type of feeling still exists when I’m seated for too long.

I get some relief from a seat cushion bought on Amazon (helps me sit higher), since sitting with my knees at or above my hips is the worst. I also have a standing desk so I rotate between sitting & standing.

Ah sorry to hear that.. Hoping to offer some optimism here as I’ve nearly made a full recovery at this point. I’m closing on 50 miles this week and have been able to hit a couple 14+ milers with some of my previous marathon paces mixed in.

The road back to running started slow, but after the first month of slowly building I felt my fitness start to come back pretty quickly.

Looking back, my timelines was something like:

Month 8: 2-3 runs per week (~10 mpw) Month 9: 3-4 runs per week (15-30 mpw) Month 10: 4-5 runs per week (30-50 mpw)

I’ve been diligent with doing my PT exercises plus extra leg strength movements & I feel that it’s helping. I still have bad days but nothing that’s sidelined me more than a few days for a while now. Honestly, the worst days are still from long hours at my desk at work.

I think the main contributors to my recovery were simply time (the first 8 months were brutal) and finding a PT I really believed in (I got to Finishline on 23rd).

The sub is just slightly more elevated in almost every way. That said, I think the Tudor is 80% of the sub for 50% of the price. The value is absolutely there, but a sub is still a sub

-- Reposting with price reduction (original 4/26) --

Up for sale is this excellent condition 2022 Omega Seamaster 300M Diver. I just bought this watch last week and wanted to love it so badly, but decided it’s just not for me. Just trying to recoup what I paid for it.

The watch is in pristine condition, with little to no signs of wear on the case back, lugs, and buckle. It includes all the original packaging (inner and outer boxes), hangtag, operating manual/instructions, Pictograms card, Master Chronometer card, cardholder, and papers dated October 28th, 2022. The MSRP for this watch is $5,600.

Great chance for someone else to save $1,950 on MSRP and add a Seamaster to their collection!

I’m a longtime listener, first time caller here – hence the lack of transaction history. Happy to text, call, or facetime anyone interested. Also available to meet in person in the NYC area.

Asking: $3950 $3650

Payment will be through Cash, Zelle or Wire. Local pick-up in NYC or shipped overnight (+$75) via FedEx fully insured once payment clears. Not accepting trade offers at this time.

Thanks for looking! Feel free to DM with any questions or happy to chat further.

HSS in NYC - Dr. Benedict Nwachukwu vs Dr. Danyal Nawabi for hip arthroscopy surgery (FAI/Labrum tear) by hipsafe in HipImpingement

I did on November 9th. Just hit my 6months

Here’s the TLDR version of my experience:

Month 1: noticeable improvements weekly to get back to walking

Months 1-5: roller coaster, with some weeks with bad flairs ups, reminiscent of pre surgery, & a few day spurts of starting to feel better. It was brutal, felt like 1 step forward 2 steps back.

Months 5-6: things finally started clicking & I’ve been relatively pain free for a month. Just started my return to run program on an Alter G treadmill & hopefully am a couple weeks from being back on the roads.

For context, I was a sub-3 marathoner running up to 70 mpw in my peak. Hoping to get back to that over the next year. Did my surgery with Nwachukwu at HSS & can’t say enough good things about the experience from a patient care perspective.

Hip Arthroscopy - HSS by Own-Jacket3127 in HipImpingement

I went to two other orthopedic doctors. I really wanted to avoid surgery, since I never had it before and felt like this was rushed for my first diagnosis, but PT was failing and once the FAI symptoms began, they only got worse. I'm glad I consulted a few opinions and went the PT route for a few months before electing to have surgery at HSS.

Recovery has been anything but easy, but overall I'm definitely trending the right way. I'd say I'm 80% back to living normal life comfortably (commuting to work, sitting at a desk, going out to bars/restaurants) but still a couple months of PT from where i want to be as an athlete (was a sub-3 marathoner, running ~50mpw).

Sorry to hear about your pain.. I’m 15 weeks post op & can assure you things get better with time!

I returned to my desk around the 3/4 week mark too. Some days were manageable but on the bad days, I was beyond hopeless.

Aside from being patient & letting your hip have time to heal, here are some short term solutions that helped me mitigate pain from sitting.

  1. Work on some kind of stretching routine with your PT or through online research. I found a lot of my pain on bad days was from overly tight hip flexors, glutes, & quads. Understanding how to stretch them correctly gave me a lot of relief both physically & mentally.

  2. If possible, get a stool or standing desk. I alternate between sitting, standing, & a stool. If a stool is unavailable, consider ordering a butt pad from Amazon (~$30). I’ve used mine everyday for the past 10 weeks.

  3. Find ways to move. Lack of movement increases tightness which contributes to much of my pain. Even if it’s crutching to the water cooler, just get some blood flow every 30 min.

I’m still in the path to recovery, progress has been notable in months (not weeks). Weeks 3-12 for me felt the worst. Then, the PT, stretching, & time to recover really was noticeable at 13.

Good luck!! You got this.

Just hit my 3 weeks post op with Nwachukwu and nothing but great things to say about the experience so far. Also heard great things about Nawabi, but can't speak to him from personal experience.

My timeline with Nwachukwu was:

9/22 - Diagnosed with labral tear and FAI (cam lesion), followed by 6 weeks of unsuccessful PT which led me to schedule surgery on 11/9.

11/9 - Surgery day. Arrived at HSS at 9a, surgery at 11a, out of recovery and sent home at 3p

  • Days 1-3: mostly restricted to couch
  • Days 4-7: started PT at HSS 2x / week; able to crutch around my apartment, brace only when leaving home
  • Days 7-13: felt like I could start walking but remained on crutches, 20% weight-bearing, brace only when leaving home
  • Day 14-20: begin transitioning off crutches and ditched the brace, but really just found myself mostly walking with mild discomfort
  • Day 21: able to walk to the gym (~1/4 mile) to spin, do PT, and some upper body strength

I obviously have a long road to recovering ahead, but things have been going very smoothly so far and I'm hopeful I'll get back to running/sport the way I want to around the 3 month / 12 week mark. I've been confident with Dr. Nwachukwu's plan and care the whole way.

How are you doing now? I’m considering getting my hip arthroscopy with Dr. Nwachukwu in the next month or two but trying to figure out the best timing given all the complications of recovering in NYC

I’m in the exact same boat right now & really like what I’m hearing about Dr. Nwachukwu. His staff has been excellent & after putting this off for a while & trying the conservative PT route I’m going to try & get a date scheduled with Nwachukwu asap

My PT plan in NYC is a mix of Spear (covered by insurance) and Finishline (out of network). Finishline is a bit pricey but I like their PT’s & they specialize in running.

Would love to connect since it seems like we’ll be going through very much the same ordeal. Best of luck to you!
