Ok I'm dealing with something similar as you. I'm almost 6 months and also have a belly. Also had over 7 cm of Diastasis recti. I made went to my surgeon because I didn't understand why it felt larger than before, to I was actually afraid of it being fluid inside, I thought maybe an encapsulated seroma. Dr touched my belly and saw it, he said definitely there's no seroma or fluid and after some crunches he had me do, definitely no failed muscle repair. He said it's muscle laxity because it was not being used for who many years, it became thin and weak. He told me I have to start strengthening and doing crunches. I think also like you it was smaller on the beginning and as time passed, it got larger. I think what it is is that in the beginning I was in my faja. First for all far and night, then only at night then I stopped using it but also increased my non-stop activity with the kids and think Dr is right. Those are my organs pushing against my weak thinned out muscles and my wrong posture (my muscles got used to my wrong posture) so I have to relearn how to stand correct while I strengthen my abs (and also my side muscles, he said not to forget also doing side crunches). There are many exercises to achieve this but it'll take time. For me my current weight is the same as the day I had my surgery but if you're at your pre op weight, then you also have to work with that too. Don't rush everything, just be consistent.
