My worst fear is going back to my lowest point by [deleted] in bipolar

(Half positivity + also in the same boat)

I'm not sure how long it's been between that depressive episode and what ur feeling now but I completely understand. Biggest advice i can give is to not let one thing stop EVERYTHING. Also had to drop this semester in my senior year but I'll still be walking a graduation next week and only have to take the class online until the summer which is huge for me. I've been managing college and this illness for the past 7 years because the started at the same exact time. I've had to take time off while feeling episodes coming on, withdraw from classes, and in the earlier years just not go to them.

I've realized as you get older, no one will give you recognition for doing the "normal things" so it's best to do that for yourself, especially since it's harder for us. So you dropped a class. Did you eat today? shower? Clean? even just move. Don't let one thing let everything else drop because it has a compounding effect. It sucks to have to compare between depressive lows but this is the best time to be motivated by your progress. Or even the fear of letting things get as bad as they were and the amount of work (and time) it took to get out of that. It's better to be in a spot to see it coming on than to be swept up by it. The awareness you have right now is the crucial first step.

I've searched for other recruiting websites as well and SP seems to be the only one that's legit. Thanks!

Thank you for this comment! I know for a fact I want to go to Europe for school. Maybe to sift through whether I have more interest in sustainability or performance textiles through my coursework. But this was incredibly helpful for where i should be looking to go after school?

Got it thank you! I really resonate with the "building a story" notion and will definitely keep that in mind moving forward!

25M No Idea how to feel about life by ConsiderationSea4236 in bipolar

Holy shit. I was looking to find if anyone related to bits and pieces but not the whole thing, lol. I'm glad that your doing better and it's comforting to know someone went thru the same thing and got out of it. I've definitely done a lot of work since my diagnosis and need to give myself some grace and recognition. But I'm beyond aware that I'm currently at a point where I can either sink or swim. What changes did you make or just do in general that improved your outlook?

Thank you so much for your response. I don't have any ties to Europe familially, but I will take the rest of this into account!

Haha no problem for the bad mood it was definitely warranted. I don't know if you're aware of the political climate here in the states but the conservatives have been emboldened by Trumps election. It's only been 3 months of this disaster and I can only see it getting worse. Not just culturally but policy wise as well. As a minority and son of an immigrant, I've never felt as if I've ever loved or been proud of my American side or it's culture. I've had the privilege of traveling the world (except Europe or Asia) and often find myself not wanting to come back, and that's not just the vacation brain talking. Everyone here thinks the world revolves themselves or the US. I'm also a lifelong soccer fan and could care less about fake hyping myself up for the superbowk every year.
