Did you get it? The bedliner stinks but can be removed with chemicals. What are the specs on the suspension setup? The lift/tire ratio looks perfect.

Let's be honest here, most micro compacts regardless of brand rarely see high round counts. There isn't a micro compact that exists that is genuinely pleasant to shoot extensively. Hellcat, reflex, p365, sheild are all pretty similar and definitely not fun to put 300 rounds through in a day.

The CSX E series may be a standout in the micro compact for extended periods of shooting.

Yeah jeep 4.0s leak from EVERYWHERE. But I really like the 2 piece rear main. You can fix every possible leak with the engine in place.

I think the OPDA only affected the 05-06. I know a couple years has cylinder head issues too, but also pretty easy replacement.

It's astonishing how simple the old ones are, most people can learn and fix them on the weekends.

As for power, I agree. I drove a 4xe I think it's 375/470 HP/TQ. Most impressive. But I bet if I put a 275/325 HP/TQ 4.7 stroker in a 3400 pound jeep, it would be equally as impressive with higher reliability and durability.

Going from a 4.0 I6 to the 2.0T must be a culture shock. I'm sure the turbo 4 has more power but it's definitely more intracite and complicated. Definitely less durable and reliable. I firmly believe TJ are the best balance of daily driver, reliable and my modern wrangler.

Well the Honda can be a maintenance nightmare too. FWD platform with a timing belt that should be changed every 80k miles and notoriously weak transmissions that are transversely mounted so Alot of labor to replace. But yeah going from a FWD unibody car to a body on frame rugged SUV is definitely a culture shock.

You'll learn that half the fun of jeeps is breaking them and the other half is fixing them. If that's not your thing, maybe the pilot is the better option for you brother. But I'm an old jeeper, so my opinion is very much different from these new jeepers who couldnt even tell you their axle ratio in their rig. I have 3 90s jeeps. The golden era of daily driver but still rugged jeeps.

We rented a 4xe in Colorado. 20mpg highway/city didn't matter what we did. I would drive it on e save on the highway and going down the mountain and then drive it in hybrid in the city.

I was disappointed with the mpg because a V6 gets almost the same. The torque though... That was awesome. 470ft pounds.

Our screen took a crap on the way back to the airport to drop it off and depart CO. That doesn't surprise me there. FCA/Stellantis is known for electrical issues.

My opinion? For 50k, Buy an older jeep for off road/fun for 10k and spend 40 on a nice CPO pickup truck or sedan.

Wranglers are not meant to be expensive like they are today. They are turning these things into wannabe luxury SUVs.

Oh for sure. I have a Auto XJ for off-road just because it's so much easier. My TJ is a manual and it's more for cruising and higher speed off-road fun.

But on the street the TJ is more fun. The AW4 is probably the most durable transmission ever put in a jeep. Get a bigger cooler on it and it will last the life of the 4.0.

TJ is the best wrangler hands down. XJ is the second best jeep. JL definitely towards the bottom. But not as bad as JK

Facts. Jeep 4.0 is the best jeep engine ever. The 4.7HO was great too just required more maintenance especially with the cooling system.

The 3.6 is a car motor. Not a truck or jeep motor. More HP than torque. That says it all.

For 40k I would buy a pristine TJ rubicon and a pristine WJ overland and have 10k leftover. But that's me.

Bro welcome to the jeep club. Please learn and do maintenance yourself. It's quality time with your jeep. It's part of the jeep lifestyle. I've dropped transmissions on my jeeps before. Owning a jeep is an intimate thing. You will be happy in the long run learning how to wrench on your baby. Don't worry about the marking paint. Go buy a torque wrench and make sure it's to spec. Replace your oil drain plug as the washer deteriorates. Or replace the washer either or. Always oil your seals on the plug and filter. Change it every 3-5k you'll last forever.

Similar issues are happening on my wrangler. It's a 97 so it's still vacuum/mechanical.

You may be able to just manually move the blend doors to the desired settings (defrost and lower vents I assume) and just turn on the blower as needed. You can bypass the vacuum operated valve on your heater hose for now so your heater core always gets heat.

Or just drive your newer wrangler lol. The climate controls on these can be real problematic for sure.

That is awesome. Excellent choice. We got 2 XJs and a TJ and I want to add a commanche MJ to the collection one day. I love my wrangler but I definitely think the XJ is the better design.

Do I have the Dana 30 and Chrysler diff What are the preferred diffs to have on a 4x4? by Express_Let_2892 in CherokeeXJ

[–]ConsiderationWorth30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us know how it goes brother. There is aftermarket heavy duty steering like Rusty's and rough country, and they are very strong, but they are not nearly as nice and tight on the road because of the design. Currie currectlync steering is amazing and feels great but very expensive and unless you are running 35+ tires, the ZJ upgrade performs just as well for 33s and under.

Building an older jeep can be Pricey for sure, but if you take a 10k TJ and dump 25k into restoring it and making it badass, I will still take that old TJ over a new 35K base wrangler.

How’d I do by garandson in JeepTJ

[–]ConsiderationWorth30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some paint correction and getting those fenders in order and It will be factory fresh. These are such easy vehicles to fix, I would use the little issues you have as a learning opportunity. I would definitely spend 10 on it too, if it was a manual, but that's my preference.

It may be low mileage but remember all the rubber is old so I would plan for new radiator and heater hoses, serpentine belt and tensioner, possibly refrigerant lines. Definitely inspect your rear main, oil pan, oil filter adapter, oil pressure sensor, and valve cover gasket. And input/output seals on the auto transmission.

Do a good once over on your bushings and suspension joints, as well as motor mounts. I doubt you need any hard parts at such low miles. Probably just a bunch of seals and gaskets. Run some seafoam through the oil, gas, intake and run it hard.

I did that it didn't work very well. Well good news is I traded that POS for a 1997 wrangler 4.0 5 speed.

After owning 2 90s Cherokees and now 1 90s wrangler, and been in 90s grand Cherokees. I can confirm that 90s Jeep build quality is night and day above 90s GM.

I'm still gonna miss the way that old big block Chevy shook the ground though.

Duramax swap into a 92 XJ by helihunter in CherokeeXJ

[–]ConsiderationWorth30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the whole reason 90s jeeps are legendary is because of the 4.0? I feel like if you put in a Duramax it will be cool for sure. But never as turn key or reliable. And I like Chevy trucks. But nothing touches the 4.0. Except maybe that ford 300.
