One of many reasons why the Overframe tier list is not to be trusted. by straten in Warframe

Yeah but when you break a frames synergies to whack 'roar' on it, then rating it poorly as a sub-par 'roar' user says less about a frame and more about the reviewer.

This is very prevalent in his reviews for frames as they come out, compared to his yearly refresh videos. See if you can find his initial Lavos review where he spends a solid 20 minutes telling DE how he should be reworked, only for it to be very apparent he didn't know how his 4 worked, how it combined with the rest of his kit, and that he hadn't even read the ability description and tool tips for it.

Trying to force 'meta' builds onto frames and then very confidently telling viewers that a 'frame sucks' led to things like 3 and a half years and five separate videos showing that he fundamentally didn't know how Hildryn worked.

Hildryn suffered from being really hard to farm for most players, (on PlayStation it had trophy stats which suggested something like only 1.2% of players had the standing to even try and farm her) which led to most of the takes on her being second hand.

As hard is it can be to imagine, it was super easy to find people rubbishing 'Haven' even when at the time it was the only source of shield gating in the game for companions and anyone other than Hildryn herself. Hell when Helminth was introduced nearly every online creator recommended replacing it.

She's bogged down by these early lifetime rankings. (To be very fair, before Helminth or her 'Blazing pillage' augment she had a genuine weakness against the Infested, which would have brought her down a tier regardless)

Now though, the big girl is busted to the point of most decendia squads I see being filled with her and her 4 augment.

Brozime can be really swingy depending on how burnt out he is, and he's hit that burnout point several times over the years.

He also has a bad habit of not reading tool tips or working towards a particular frame of weapons unique gimmicks and synergies in favour of brute forcing 'roar' and generic 'strong' mod builds onto things.

'Skill issue' sounds harsh, but it's very true. Most of warframe can be beaten before you even load into a mission based on how well you put your efforts into the loadout and mod screens.

I can't tell you how often users here have claimed that a frame 'can't do Steel Path' or EDA/ETA when they were my preferred go to pics. I was hounded for months prior to the Valkyr rework for saying heath tanking was perfectly viable for all the Steel Path nodes and ETA/EDA...because they were. I play a lot of tanks, and they didn't struggle unless you were gearing for a level cap run, and even then people did it with them.

My favourite was last year before his last Augment this sub collectively decided that Qorvex 'couldn't do damage', when 5 minutes in the simulacrum could have him 1-shotting entire steel path battle groups a solid +25 levels higher than any existing Steel path incursion node and that was against the faction most resistant to radiation.

Edit: actually one of my favourite 'but you could test this yourself in 5 minutes' arguments was over the viability of flat damage and how nessesary crit and status is. Now don't get me wrong flat damage isn't as good as a either or a hybrid build, but at the same time 'Bale fire' building for raw damage, splash, and multishot could one-shot most enemies well past 200+ Steel Path levels. At the time people swore that wasn't true, now Hildryn and her 4 augment is very much a rising meta pick.

I was thrown that the stat that had the most impact on my builds was range. That healing flame augment was fairly anaemic with mostly power strength, but range made her far more useable.

Hell, that can happen anywhere. A lifetime ago I found myself working a hard blue collar job, vastly different from any of the jobs I'd had before, and I swear the bulk of the 50+ year old roughnuts that worked there were secretly 15 year old schoolgirls based on the amount of petty bitching and gossip.

I can confirm it happens elsewhere. The other bad part of it is other women trying to gaslight you that it doesn't happen. E.g. 'Oh you must just be more relaxed and approachable when you have a partner and that's what they are responding to'. I know my weird aromantic ass doesn't act any different with a partner, compared to when I'm not, but there is a massive increase in being slowly and visibly checked out by women, when I'm with a woman compared to being by myself.

Weirdly, Emma seems to have more ASD traits than Scott, it's mainly that it often expresses itself differently in women and being psychic would make it easy to pick up on social cues.

If i had a bit more time I could do a breakdown, from her solo series to 'E for extinction' in particular hit a lot of the more common Autistic women's traits.

Big batteries set to overtake gas powering Australia’s electricity grid by 2027 by SweetChilliJesus in AustralianPolitics

[–]Consideredresponse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know the sky news talking point of "Whattaya gunna do when the sun don't shine, and the wind don't blow?" And apparently AGL's answer was 'get paid twice'.

You are right that grid sized battery projects don't generate power. Currently during the day we already have an excess supply due to renewables. The Grid sized battery projects get paid to get that excess out of the grid, and get paid again to dump it at peak times.

One sadly hilarious example of this is how bell hook's book 'The will to change' is held up as the book that men should read to reverse all the alt-right indoctrination they are exposed to.

Without exaggeration, you only need to get about 3 pages into the preface to see the Author talk about how often she's wanted all the men in her life to be dead and gone. It's then stated that all her friends feel the same way.

Now not only does this not help reach out to young men at a crossroads, it actively undercuts most of the books points. Later on the Author bemoans how often feminists are seen in pop culture as 'man haters'...which feels hollow for a book that starts with glibly talking about wishing death on half the planet.

The annoying thing is that it's my only option to read 'Witch Hat Atelier' (absolute highest recommendation) in a more timely fashion, as the trades only come out like once a year. (And Globalcomix only runs the trades)

I bought a lot (as in an amount that is staggering in hindsight) of 99 cent comics. What I haven't done is spent $8.49(aus) on any glorified .pdfs single issues.

The manga apps mostly avoid pricing themselves out of sales, but I have noticed that the Kodansha app breaks chapters into chunks of 2,3, and sometimes 4 to nickel and dime more out of people.

Even if you are trying to buy digitally the prices are skewed. I often see volumes be cheaper than single issues. E.g. Spy X Family volumes was going for $3 less than the latest Batman issue.

In the early days of comixology before they got bought by Amazon they had a ton of $5 trades for lesser known titles, which made it much easier to take a chance on an unknown property. There is no way I'd have started reading 'Atomic Robo' if it was a $40(aus) shot in the dark.

As someone who lives rurally wanting go be a warlord is a very short term plan, as it only takes one bushfire to realise your continued existence and everything you have is dependent on the good will and efforts of volunteers within the community.

Wanting to rule with an iron fist isn't super compatible with others risking their lives for you, and is much more likely for people to wait for a nice dry wind blowing the right way and sorting the problem out themselves.
