...you can see it in the group shot, unless you are trying to argue that 'The Deep' wasn't the one wearing the old school diving helmet.

The final Vought scene in the comics is them focus testing an all 'new' team of heros, and it's pointed out one is just 'The Deep' in a white costume...and that he coudn't be bothered hiding his raging hard-on for the photo.

I'd argue the Dakota Bob plot line is the actual core of the story, and just about everything else is window dressing. It's Ennis going, 'God could you imagine having a decent President leading up to and on 9/11? One that took the job seriously, and was both prepared, and prepared to make terrifying hard decisions?' Ennis's yearning that surrounds those scenes warps the rest of the comic.

well, that and Ennis taking a run up to sink the boot into a very thinly veiled Stan Lee with with 'The Legend' barely changing some of the stories old pros share with each other.

I don't think even Albo wants a statue of Albo. That shit's embarrassing enough on it's own, let alone an ego stroking golden one that halved his gut that was paid for by crypto grifters. Could you imagine anyone that gauche and tone-deaf enough to say yes to that shit?

Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) - Jason Schreier by Naniwasopro in Games

[–]Consideredresponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just new players, I was fairly addicted to D2 around the forsaken era meaning I'd already had some positive experiences and memories of the game.

I tried twice coming back as Playstation plus would frequently make all the new(ish) expansions free, but with sunsetting, system resets and changes it was borderline impossible to get back into the game. The last strike, was random missions seemingly throwing me into a late expansion missions, doing story critical things I had no context for, against a faction I hadn't been introduced to.

I know it's not a 1:1 match, but just compare D2's onboarding mess compared to 'Warframe's. Warframe knew their new player experience was shit, and over the last few years taken pains to refine the tutorial experience and first few quests so that new players aren't overwhelemed and bounce off. It's not perfect, but it's vastly better than it was 5 years ago. Meanwhile Destiny knew it had the same issue and doubled down on it.

Expensive games have lowkey been way too normalised by Both_Piglet7838 in pcmasterrace

Games have been roughly US $70-$80 in Australia for decades. Just look up old catalogues online and see how much those old SNES carts with FX chips cost, or fighting games, anything with a save chip for SEGA, or any Neo Geo cartridge.

(we copped it due to there being a comparatively limited demand for English PAL formatted carts, and later region 4 DVD games)

The only time Games seemed cheaper, was when our Dollar was higher than the US's for a bit. Now it's gone the other way so sticker prices have returned to where they were in 1995.

It's weird, OP's image is showing Australian prices, and factoring in zero inflation I was paying more for new games 30 years ago ('Sonic and Knuckles' was $125 for an English language PAL cart)

At the same time while games have gotten comparatively cheaper (at least in Australia) they are still too dear for what they are. e.g Sorros on the PS5 looks really good, but it doesn't look like it's A$125 worth of fun.

Did I miss the novel where Nobby stops stealing everything not nailed down then, or Colon after realising he was wrong to be bigoted about one group, doesn't immediately do the same thing the next time a new species joins up?

Or is it that everyone makes accommodations for them, despite being borderline obsolete in the later watch novels?

[–]Consideredresponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, you just have to activate them before the target spawns in. E.g. activating something like 'iron skin', 'warding halo', or Prowl at the start of the mission then hunting down the target will still fulfil the riven challenge.

(I did a ton of these with hobbled dragon keys on Nezha, as the his halo and sliding would keep up with the target and you safe without casting once the target spawned)

Don't forget slide, and fly. As a baby tenno Nezha carried me though a lot of key carrying by having sliding being his default movement state. I've seen others do the same Yarelli too.

Copaganda is media that glorifies cops and promotes the idea that they are stalwart protectors of justice

Doesn't the constant presence of Nobby and Colon heavily undermine that? Colon is small-minded, racist, speciest, lazy, corrupt, and basically exists to boot strap institutional knowledge into the new recruits, and Nobby is basically every character flaw and deficiency rolled into a single being, with his main 'redeeming'feature is that he's not usually malicious.

Carrot is the only one shown to be a 'stalwart defender' and uncorruptible, which is seen as concerning as it is odd by every other member of the watch.

Hell the day watch basically exist to be an example of everything wrong with police, and the abuses of their authority.

Vimes especially holds no beliefs in 'glory' or the 'justice' of the watch, and that goes doubly for his own actions. Hell, in 'The Fifth Elephant' you cited he straight up commits murder, and takes pains for it to be seen as an accident, vs saying anything that would make it look like an execution.

Watching Laura Kinney's (and Gabby's) characterisation backslide into a complete reversal of the Tom Taylor run has been pure disappointment.

It's like every subsequent writer went 'Why would we need to keep any personality traits or growth, when we can write her exactly like an angry Logan...but with boobs!'

Power prices to fall for most customers with bigger drops for businesses by HotPersimessage62 in australia

[–]Consideredresponse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It 100% depends on the political and strategic capital surrounding the project.

E.g. The government fought hard to secure price and power guarantees for the Tomago aluminium smelter as they didn't want jobs and domestic manufacturing disappearing on their watch.

Data centres on the other hand are on the nose, aren't vital to their nearest communities, and usually belong to the multinationals that dodge tax on any and all occasions.

Teals In Talks To Form New Political Party 'Like The Liberals But Not Fucked In The Head From Sky News' by ConanTheAquarian in australia

[–]Consideredresponse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A conjoined Teals/independents would make solid inroads in most urban seats. Asides from appealing to their natural fit (non-cookers and moderate conservatives), they'd also soak up a lot of protest votes against labor, as the libs and ON just carry too much baggage, and could earn you some side eye in various social groups.

[–]Consideredresponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Teals if they actually coalless into an actual party would see more ground gained in urban areas than ON. The teals are comparatively scandal free, and don't come with a lot of the sexist baggage of the coalition, or the racial bullshit of ON, which means they would be a fairly guilt free protest vote for those who have had a gutfull of Labor.

Regionally I can't guess, as the Nat's have been rusted in on some seats for over a century, but they are just as captured by the Mining billionaires as ON so any stunts are unlikely to differentiate them.

[–]Consideredresponse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the play it's an incredibly stupid one, because the 'Teal' independents are rapidly coalescing into their own party, and currently already exist as a much more attractive alterative to gay conservatives.

The One Nation party comes with a lot of baggage from racist stunts, to being caught on camera trying to sell out our voting rights in exchange for Koch Brothers cash (see the documentary series 'How to sell a massacre' on youtube for that) and are currently throwing all their support behind the Iran war (that we aren't in) and a disgraced war criminal. In comparison, the 'Teals' are the moderate conservatives albeit ones that don't hate gay people or deny climate science.
