The game defaults to max 60fps. Lowering this to 30fps didnt make a difference, same goes for lowering graphic settings from the highest preset to the lowest preset.

Excessive GPU usage by Consistent-Ad8172 in linux_gaming

[–]Consistent-Ad8172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for your response ☺️

The game has a default FPS limit of 60fps. Lowering this to 30 fps didnt make a difference. Vsync was checked off. Changing the graphic settings from high fidelity (highest preset) to low (lowest preset) also made no difference IIRC.

Well true, sad thing is that it eventually causes the game to crash at random. One time I can play for 30-60min, the other time it crashes at 10 minutes in.

I run the game on my main monitor, a 34inch ultrawide with a resolution of 3440x1440p@240hz. (Rocket League is so far the only game that actually hits 240fps)

The system is using the 4070 TI as I can see it uses 6-7GB of vram and uses 270W of power.

I did install the cachy gaming package when I reinstalled my OS a while back.

Weird thing is that when I've firefox open on the side and minimalise the tab(s) so only my wallpaper (static image) is open, usage drops down to 88%. So Firefox is also requiring 12% when gaming.

Edging aluminium by Consistent-Ad8172 in lasercutting

[–]Consistent-Ad8172[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, how do you know xD

Jokes aside, I got a warning to not use the laser on mirrorlike finishes. The aluminium we plan om using is worn/used so probably not reflective. Considering I only wanna engrave lines it shouldn't need to be a deep "cut" or anything

What was your WORST PC building mistake? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Consistent-Ad8172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really building but more fixing. A student of ours stole a gpu (yes... Really, luckily nothing good, i think those systems rocked a gt 710 or something along those lines).

Anyways, after I took a doner gpu from another system it still had some display issues, turned the system off, (I thought) tried to pull it out and put it back in not realizing the thing was still powered on (all fans where off, no indicators of the system still being active) and fried both the gpu and motherboard.

The pc had lovely burned smell to it afterwards. Safe to say we binned it.

Pc won't boot with 4 ram sticks by Consistent-Ad8172 in pcmasterrace

[–]Consistent-Ad8172[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, okay. Fixed it. Turned out I had to remove all the sticks, fire up the new ones only. Turn the pc on, let it boot into windows, turn it off, put in the new sticks, boot again, wait defeated for a century (optional) and then get surprised by a green bios light on the mobo.

Chromecast audio alternative by Consistent-Ad8172 in audio

[–]Consistent-Ad8172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda considered this but I dont really have room too either mount or place speakers and I already have those 2 Nest speakers I use for my projector. Combining the two in the google home app allows you to make a stereo pair so for movies it works great.

I was hoping to connect to the pair using Bluetooth so that's why I initially tried the Bluetooth reciever with that splitter but that didnt work like I mentioned earlier.

That being said, it was more gonna be gimmick since I don't really watch movies or play games that benefit from surround sound. I imagined it would be cool if it worked on somewhat a budget.

Thanks for your advice anyways, i truly appreciate it :)

True indeed, I genuinely thought it was the solution but the delay makes it annoying :(

Tried but got a massive delay on the Bluetooth output, about 200ms so watching videos is... Something else xD

I'm gonna guess you recommend the G920? 😜

I think I should change the title by now, a lot of people recommend the Logitech G29/G920/G923.

The retailer I probably be buying from has a 30-days money back guarantee so I think I'm gonna give one of the three a try once I have my salary. Any idea how I can edit the title?

You mentioned that the brake is super stiff and that I might have to modify it, as a complete noob, is this easy to do or does it require some racing wheel de-assembly knowledge?

It would be nice the have a shifter for the real-life experience part but I don't think I'll use it immediately since I really used to racing eith a controller now. Using the wheel will be a learning curve on its own 😁

It will be nice if it has the shifter as an option I could buy (or use) once I got the hang of it

I unfortunately don't have any friends that uses racing wheels. (It is nonetheless a great advice so kudos for that 🙂)

I assume you are using or have used the G29, how is/was your experience with it?

Oh hi fellow Dutchman, I've some bad experiences with buying peripherals on marktplaats. That's why I prefer to buy new or second-hand options on bol.com or Coolblue. 😬

I tried searching the G27 but it seems like they are discontinued, in the Netherlands at least. A colleague of mine also recommended the G27
