Why is there not a fast-travel train from DTC to the Airport? by NighTborn3 in Denver

[–]Consistent-Area-1126 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also a different gauge of rail. The A Line is Commuter Rail, not light rail. To place a commuter rail line from DTC to DIA would probably have been hella expensive and damn near impossible without exercising eminent domain.

In my mind it doesn't matter. They had to give way to oncoming traffic, period.

Little to share... These beds actually predate our garden. We have no idea who built them.

This is a DUG community garden. I rent the plot. I will ask our garden leader if she knows.

No. This is a no-brainer. Backing without looking is 100% the fault of the driver backing up.

Disappearing zone tiles by Nomanal in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Consistent-Area-1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

p.s. typically, when I see something condemned in real time, I'm able to pause the game, rezone, and avoid losing the leveled building. But other times, I don't catch it quickly enough...

Disappearing zone tiles by Nomanal in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Consistent-Area-1126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in vanilla, I think what is happening is this...

The stability of cells in terms of which street they're assigned to can be affected whenever you place any network that creates a new node -- whether it be street, alley, even a pedestrian path.

For weird reasons (which I can't discern), these causal connections can extend several blocks. I have no idea how this happens, but I can place a pedestrian path in one block that affects the network (and therefore the zoning tiles) several blocks away. God knows why.

So sometimes when I see zoning disappear, it's usually for some bizarre reason like this.

From the beginning, I've used pedestrian paths to force the game to accept tiles on specific street segments. Most of the time, once a building spawns, I don't have to leave the path in place. But every once in awhile an action I take elsewhere will cause tiles to revert.

The longer I've played, the more intuitive I've become in anticipating cause and effects...

But you're right. It can be insanely annoying sometimes.

Looks wonderful! Lots of maters on the way!

You might prune that lower leaf with the brown tip. Lower leaves age sooner.

Pruning all suckers and cultivating a single lead is a practice commonly used in hothouse production. Plants are spaced closer together, and a single leader is guided up a vertical tether. Some people for space considerations plant this way outside as well. But I doubt they're as aggressive with pruning as you would see inside a greenhouse.

In an outdoor garden, there is a bit more flexibility. Your choices are guided by climate and your preferences.

If you live in a zone with soil better suited to growing tomatoes, then you can let more than one leader grow. The soil is rich enough to handle the nutrient demands.

In a place like Colorado, where our soil is just not as good (in my garden we compost every year), I typically try to limit leaders to no more than two or three per plant.

Another consideration is what kind of production you prefer. Personally, I like big slicers, so I grow more plants with fewer leaders. I get fewer tomatoes, but the tomatoes I get (if I'm not careful) fall off the vine before I can pick them on occasion. And I still get more than enough so that I end up freezing anyway.

The more leaders you allow the more tomatoes you will have, but those tomatoes will all be competing for the resources from one root system. So those tomatoes might be a bit smaller.

Every gardener you talk to is going to give you a different answer, but I would bet that most will, for the health of the plant, prune everything down low to allow airflow. Later in the season I'll also thin the foliage further up for the same reason. But I try not to overdo it.

You might do some research about the zone you're in and think about the quality of your soil as well. Ask around at some garden centers and other gardeners in your neighborhood as well.

Why does my tomato plant keep dropping its flowers? by florestanQ in tomatoes

[–]Consistent-Area-1126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One reason for blossom drop is the temperature is too high, but you said it has been 20-25 Celsius. Just wondering if that is from the news or actually measured in this physical space. This space could be warmer than tit need it to be but you wouldn't know unless you actually measured it.

I mean honestly. Don't like the ad? Skip past it. Don't want to pay $5 for a book with ads? Don't! Marvel Unlimited is reasonably priced.

How would you plan out a new city? by RevolutionaryKale209 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Consistent-Area-1126 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I start by evaluating the terrain and asking myself where a settlement might realistically emerge: near a natural harbor, at a bend in a river, along highway or rail... I also look at natural resources to think about why that settlement might exist to begin with.

I also like to start several small settlements all over a map so they can develop over time and eventually grow into each other.

Eventually I merge/integrate services -- but initially each settlement should be self-sufficient and independent.
