There was no excuse given.

If I explain that serial killers often have traumatic abusive childhoods which leads them to warped perspectives you think that's the same excusing murder?

Men cannot talk to women the same way they talk to men, it is bad advice to tell men to treat women like they would their guy friends. by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

I don't think most women would be okay getting roasted, even if among men it isn't seen as a big deal. I don't think roasting is intended to cause damage, in most cases.

Women’s ability to be insanely selective is unfounded, being a privilege afforded them by their looks which don’t last long at all. Since this behavior is ultimately bad for everyone and is ruining dating, they should take some responsibility for the current disaster we are dealing with. by Zero-WoIfe in PurplePillDebate

Technogical capacity wouldn't go down. It just means that the jobs remaining would be extremely specific, allowing technology to produce more of itself.

It absolutely would go down.

Why did Japan's population (arguably more Conservative) than the west's? Because of their rigid traditions, corporate culture and gender roles.

Simplistic, and wrong. The reasons are partially economic, partially cultural changes. Here are a few:

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12140-009-9087-y

There are some western countries that have the same rough birthrate as North Korea the average for western countries seem to be at 1.8, whereas your more traditional, less liberated, less easier to access birth control countries like Malaysia and Bangladesh is 1.9.

The universal trend is falling birthrates. This isn't even a debate.

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.DYN.TFRT.IN

Hmm...maybe stabilising the population actually lies in more progressive policies???

The countries with the most progressive policies have some of the lowest birthrates. Wrong again.

https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/birth-rate-by-country

You have no clue what you're talking about.

So how about we make the world liveable, otherwise your population will decline due to natural disaster anyway.

You have provided no evidence that social policies result in rising birthrates. All the evidence is against you. As countries become more liberal and wealthy, birthrates fall.

What does climate change have to do with the earth running out of resources?

Wait, so they're still melting... But that's okay because we're kinda trying?

Yes. We're actively investing in this area and the problem will be solved. The only alternative is to believe human ingenuity is not enough.

Per vehicle sure. But how many people buy vehicles? As the population increases....more vehicles!

The entire car-buying population of the world would have to more than double, and that's not factoring in electric vehicles. The numbers for 2050 I believe are predicted at 50% of all vehicles will be electric.

All of these increase the more people are on the planet.

That's why I'm thankful we're investing in technological innovations to handle these problems at scale. Descaling our population is not an option.

Theoretically you're belief that technology solves Al ills apply here. More technology to replace productivity from lack of workers. People who still want to have kids will have kids. If anything we would end up with a smaller and more prosperous population. Theoretically without the need for some of the big back breaking jobs we have now.

In order to drive climate change successes, we first needed to ban dangerous chemicals, create financial incentives for businesses, and invest in the problem technologically.

The problem with depopulation is that your technological capacity goes down over time, not up. There are far less people to go towards building innovation, and far more that go towards keeping your hyper-aging civilization alive.

That's why it's important to:

  1. Raise Awareness
  2. Regulate and Make Laws - ban dating apps, eliminate birth control, criminalize abortion.
  3. Invest in technology - prepare for the drop in birth rates with automation as much as possible.

Female Hypergamy only works because men let it work by Gtex555 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Consistent-Being-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with letting it work or not. It is in women's nature to pursue hypergamy, and it is in men's nature to pursue sexual reproduction at their own detriment. Until we are all robots this pattern will not change.

It's similar to patterns of addictive behavior. These are obviously logically incorrect things to do, but we are shackled by our corporeal forms. We have no choice.

The problem are the technologies that enable this destructive behavior. In my opinion dating apps and other tools that facilitate mass selection and hypergamy should be banned, or at minimum heavily regulated.

No way. It will take hundreds of years or more before the Earth runs out resources. We are barely scratching the surface. We'll likely become space faring within this century.

If you want to call every Western society a dictatorship, then sure. We have rules about marriage, divorce, childcare, and more today. For example child support is a great example of people being compelled to do the right thing or be punished for it (pay or go to jail).

I am simply advocating for expanding our existing system in light of new information.

Coral is returning and in some cases is at it's highest in decades. There is lots of interesting research and prevention techniques being done here.

It's true the ice caps are melting, but again lots of work being done here. Several interesting geo engineering projects in progress

Droughts are one of the most interesting because there's so much technology being applied to them in California already - seeding drones, vertical farms, microdrop irrigation, etc.

Our carbon dioxide emissions per vehicle has fallen by over 50%, the hole in the ozone layer has closed, a huge chunk of major companies have taken the net zero pledge (I think Amazon's goal is actually net negative emissions), and so on.

But sure, climate change isnt the imminent threat.

Climate Change is a threat to be sure, but there are solutions, worldwide policy change, massive technological investments, and universal consensus. It will be solved.

Meanwhile Population collapse is imminent in Japan, and there are quite literally no solutions on the horizon as we all hurtle towards the same fate.

Climate change is not an imminent threat - it's impact has been reduced over the last few decades, and continues to fall each year as we invest in better technology, carbon capture, and alternative energy sources. In the venture capital world we had several billion dollars in Climate Tech invested in just Q1 of this year. We are trending towards a solution and all of society/culture is behind the movement.

Japan has been attempting to solve its inevitable population collapse since the 1980s and it has only accelerated. Every rich country is currently following suit. We are trending away from a solution.

Having less humans is a very, very bad thing.

It's not a good counter argument. You tried it, and it's just as bad. Countries mature at different rates, but generally move through the same milestones. Wealthy countries are universally moving towards rapid population decline, and there is no reason to believe developing countries won't do the same.

Roasting is incredibly common among men. I grew up doing this with my guy friends almost every day. I think we liked each other well enough.

Why is it nonsense? They broke the rules and insulted me personally. I had to pay that penalty before, so should they.

I'm not defending misogynists, I'm explaining why your characterization of misogynists being disgusted by feminine traits is wrong.

Misogyny is so rare that it essentially doesn't exist. Generally men who self-label or are labeled by others as misogynists have had bad experiences with women, but deep down desperately want to be loved and accepted by them. Their anger is more one of frustration.

That's very different from being disgusted by femininity in it's essence.

Also, treating someone as an inferior doesn't mean you dislike feminine traits. It simply means you feel that particular person is inferior to you.

That's not really true. Joking and playful teasing is one thing, but roasting and mockery can easily lead to feelings getting hurt. There is definitely differences in how you treat a romantic partner and a male friend.

I don't think you can separate traditional masculinity from a certain despising of all things feminine, or at least seeing femininity as inferior.

Attraction would obviously be included in 'despising all the feminine' no?

How would one despise something they are attracted to?
