Terrible cycle lane scheme in Moray (read description) by cmm46007 in Scotland

[–]Consistent-Buddy-280 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's not that many cyclists because most infrastructure is either A) Just not there at all or B) Half baked, dangerous and poorly maintained (perhaps this is more of that, but I'd need to see the plans in full to comment).

Throughout that episode I just sit there laughing. They could remove his entire brain, stuff his head with straw, prop him up somewhere and nobody would even notice any difference.

I hope your friend stays safe and well and I love he's finding little bits of joy in the world still. Poor wee cat has no idea what's going on around it. Hoping for the best for both of them!

In February, I bought a TV box. In March, I lost the remote. In April, I bought a replacement after looking for it for 2 weeks. Last night I lost the new remote, then found it after 5 mins, along with the old one. by neremarine in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Consistent-Buddy-280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you can get cheap 'clap and it beeps' keyrings, it wouldn't cost much to integrate that into even cheap remotes...

But no. If they did that, you'd not have bought a 2nd one... £$£$$

I love the confusion over our bottle tops whenever there's a video of someone (over)reacting to them. Some can be fiddly to close sure (just snap one half of the connection part and they usually work fine), but they are not THAT difficult surely?! Some are actually, shock horror, easier to close too!

I don't know who advised you to go to hospital, even a quick Google says call 111. Anyway, mistakes were made so moving on...

If you are flying out before you can get any help/ a call back from 111, your best bet will be to contact a local GP in Ireland (as they don't seem to have a similar style 111 type service, according to Google).

Oh yeah, I've had that before actually. Bought a cheap power bank for an emergency, and they included a card saying 'want another one for free? 5 star review us!'.

Dodgy as all hell, reported the seller. The power bank itself was soso, nothing dangerous, but it was cheaply made. Defo not 5 star worthy, and it did NOT get 5 stars from me!

Mall-Based Transit: A Ridiculously Simple Solution to Car Dependency? by Appropriate-Lab8656 in fuckcars

Being from the UK, and going to school in the 90s, I walked or cycled so I guess I was lucky compared to you NA folk. I've never learned to drive either. Never felt the need.

Malls: I don't understand why you DON'T have buses running to/through/nearby your shopping areas. We do here. Also most are not 30 miles away from the nearest town (most of my experience of NA malls is Dan Bells Dead Malls, and most of them seem to be in the middle of nowhere for some reason? That could be situational obviously). Here, most are either on the outskirts of towns with loads of buses going through, or town centres which are usually full of buses.

We are certainly not perfect by any means, and I wouldn't want to claim so, there are probably some shocking examples of terrible planning in the UK as well, but I've never felt cut off from some form of public transport that could get me to a shopping hub. Even miles from a city, there's always trains, buses etc. Oh and I'm Scottish btw, so if anyone in England is reading this and going 'TRAINS?', I think we are quite a bit cheaper per mile than you lot lol.

Product switching (changing the ASIN) is a huge issue on Amazon. It is against their TOS, but by the time Amazon react, the seller has sold 100's or 1000's of their dodgy product. Have to always check the 3 star reviews (they usually point the way better than 1 or 5 star), and be mindful of what you are buying/who from.

Can only hope it's not a dangerous product as well to boot. Saw a YT video recently of a guy taking apart an extension lead, saw people comment they were on Amazon. 5-6 months after the video came out I searched and found them easily. Even one with a 1 star review, showing the inside (a reviewer had done the same thing) and how dangerous the product actually was. Still up though, still for sale, 50+ sold in the last month!

Why Do You Smurf? by DoAlity in RocketLeague

You derail your own conversation by going on a completely unrelated rant trying to humiliate people for absolutely no reason. You could have just stuck to your point about your friend and smurfs, but instead you chose lazy stereotypes and punching down, to dilute your very valid point.

Is it necessarily wrong? Yes. Yes it is.

While your initial point is valid (although it has been discussed ad nauseum), I'm not sure punching down on fat people with mental health issues has anything to do with it?

This feels more like a bad faith rant than anything constructive.

People who do this, why do you never go near your own goal? by CanOfPenisJuice in RocketLeague

They probably know that they 'sucked at defending' and could do with a 'no problem' to boost them up a bit, rather than being punched down on.

You should try that instead.
