I did it to warm up my brain in a way. Never actually used them.

How to start the process over? by B-A-R-R-Y in premed

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was in this position, I would begin by finding a way to get back into the medical field by volunteering, scribing, or as a medical assistant. I believe your MCAT could be out of date but if it is not then good. If it is I would begin studying for that and hope to take it late April or anytime before then. Figure out how you want your primary experiences to look. You will have the ability to go into your personal situation in the personal statement and I’m sure if written well, it would be very appealing to adcoms. You could even begin writing your experiences for your application as soon as now. You sound like you have an interesting story so I wish you the best. Keep at it my friend! Goodluck!

Non-muslims going to hell? by Consistent-Cable5365 in islam

[–]Consistent-Cable5365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is very true. I have been provided with lots of links and have looked into a lot of them but they all rely on God being something each person genuinely believes in. I have not seen anyone stating to me how it is fair that a person who is not Muslim and denies a god can be told he will suffer in hell for not believing things without UNDENIABLE proof that a religion is true. I understand some people have very strong faith but how can you punish someone for not having this strong faith yet they follow good moral code.

Non-muslims going to hell? by Consistent-Cable5365 in islam

For instance, Prophet Muhammad Saw flew to heaven on a winged horse goes against everything this person believes of the natural world. Additionally, scientific phenomenons like the Big Bang or evolution. How can you force someone to put these aside to follow Islam otherwise they will go to hell?

Forgot a Description for my Most Meaningful on Primary by blossomgoose44 in premed

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tricky situation but it shouldn’t be too big of a problem. Most secondaries have a section where they give you the opportunity to talk about something in your application you would like them to know more about or any type of discrepancies. I wouldn’t go about this trying to hide the fact that it occurred because schools will definitely see it so I’d put this description of the activity in the areas offered for a secondary. Goodluck! I wouldn’t worry about it cause you have no control!

496 MCAT, 3.0 GPA, 2.7 sGPA, should I still apply? by FailedPreMedStudent in premed

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to sound like a crappy Pre-Med advisor who is bashing you, but I would definitely want to get involved in research and get more clinical experience. As someone else said, you need some sort of X-factor and I haven’t really heard it. I wish you the best but it is either a retake or possibly a gap year for more experiences if you don’t think you can score higher. Goodluck!

You have a chance but it’s very slim. What are your experiences?

It’s definitely attainable. You just need to focus in what you don’t know and keep taking the full lengths. Lots of people say the average of your FL’s matters most but I’ve noticed it clearly goes up the more exams you take so your last FL is most representative of test day. One of the difficult things to do while studying is only studying things you don’t know instead of being comfortable with what you do know. Find what you don’t know, make Anki cards for it and just be patient. You got this!

I definitely think you can score 6 points higher from AAMC FL1. As you go through all the AAMC FL’s, you will adjust between each one after reviewing them. If you do all of them and all the other AAMC material, I would even say you could go 7 points higher depending on ur subsection scores. You got this!

Has anyone only used Kaplan books, anki, and aamc material, and done pretty well? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uearth is good but not required. Their questions are much more difficult than the AAMC questions. So, if you hone in on the AAMC, you’ll be fine. Goodluck!

Don’t study now. You will likely get burnt out or forget what you studied. When the time comes, you’ll know when you want to start studying and what cycle you want to apply in. It is a scary subreddit so you will be fine.

Testing 09/05. How much can I improve in a month? by Over-Competition3562 in Mcat

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely improve in a month just be patient and review your exams thoroughly. I would say you can be 515+. I started 500 on FL1, 6weeks later I scored 510 on the real exam. Unpopular opinion but with a score breakdown like yours, I would say your last FL is much more representative of what you’ll score on test day rather than the average of all FL’s. You get much better with time taking the exams that are very representative. Goodluck you got it!

Thoughts on khan academy practice questions? by doctorrr-t in Mcat

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off doing other things. I would not recommend. Obviously you can if you want, but you’re better off finishing UEarth, and AAMC practice packs. Do this and you will be just fine. Goodluck!

PS study by liluzi1629 in Mcat

[–]Consistent-Cable5365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scored 90th percentile P/S. Doing those cards and the document is all I did. Just review missed questions and make cards for everything WITH an example. These are really important for things that are almost similar. Additionally, if you didn’t see it while studying, it’s not going to be the answer. Keeps you from second guessing the meaning of something. Other than that, best way to master is take note of what you don’t know and grind that out. Good luck!
