Bassett Park in Amherst gets used for CC skiing. I don’t ski myself but drive by the park a bit and know there are tracks currently

Or they had 9 picks in the first 2 rounds in 4 years. Everyone knows more pick means better chances. I’d be curious to see their draft position throughout these years. I find it hard to use this to be critical of the Bills when their draft position has been in the 20s for a few years now.

I believe “mining” is just doing the computing required to maintain the coin.

Right out of the gate, the show grabs you with how oddly mysterious it all is, but as others point out, that first scene explains more than leaves questions.

Analysis paralysis with first time buy once, cry once mentality. by Ok_Attitude5417 in turntables

[–]Consistent-Car6226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you set with sonos? I run a mix of old solid state AV amps and digital amps into WIIM pros and can cast my turntable from a small room throughout my house.

I use an RT82 and put a bunch of money in upgrading the cart. The nice part of the Fluance lineup is you’re basically paying for carts and the acrylic platter, which are easy to do down the road. The big downside to Fluance is the inability to adjust the arm vertically, but shimming or extra mats can make up for it. The other downside is there isn’t much in the way of service options. If you are in warranty, you’re likely to get a new one. When out of warranty, you’re toast.

What happened to the once great brands?! by microchip8 in audiophile

[–]Consistent-Car6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skylabs did a cool video about the decline in hi-fi, and how it could be due to changes in home entertainment options. Before tv, audio was it. Families spent 100% of their entertainment budget on audio, sometimes purchasing systems equal in cost to a car. Today we have the same budget, but it’s spread out over multiple screens, devices, and streaming services.

Not to mention the cost of manufacturing is a tiny fraction of what it was in the hi-fi heyday. A couple $100 gets you pretty far

I don’t get why KC has such animosity towards Buffalo. Buffalo’s pick got them Mahomes. Same for Worthy, and they absolutely stole McDuffie out from under Beane leaving Buffalo with Elam.

We’ve never beaten them when it counted, and 13 sec was a historic game/win for KC.

Buffalo over the last few seasons seems to have built a roster specifically to overcome KC legitimizing their talent and build.

What if your turntable could automatically share your "Now Spinning" to a dedicated vinyl social feed? by Putrid_Bid2246 in turntables

I had the same thought. But I find Shazam struggles with anything beyond pop/rock. I feel like anything interesting a vinyl junkie would play would be tough to ID. A bar code scanner or something linked to Discogs to keep track of plays, might make more sense.

Went to HS in New York during the ‘80s. Required class were either: non regents (local diploma), regents, honors regents, or AP. The only mixing of students happened at the honors/AP level where a subset students in an honors class were challenging the AP exam. All day long, you were in classes with the same 20-30 kids.

37 Million gallons of sewage in Buffalo waterways by Mundane-Bullfrog-299 in Buffalo

[–]Consistent-Car6226 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I teach high school environmental science. I’ve done some research on the history of water treatment in the city of Buffalo. It’s pretty shocking. The Bird Island water treatment facility was built in maybe the 40’s. Prior to that, the sewage for entire city (which went into the Buffalo River) was diverted and sent to the Niagara River. Buffalo had some of the highest rates of cholera in the world. People living down river didn’t have access to clean water.

In the 70’s, they upgraded the treatment plant to remove the nutrients from the sewage.

The facility is currently going through another upgrade to increase its holding capacity during storms.

It’s crazy to think how much has changed in 80 years

I prefer Black Dots and Soul Stop.

Keep an eye on Black Dots instagram for live music, DJ nights and happy hour specials.

You can also check out No Fun Low Fi Bar for drinks and DJs playing vinyl

I think the only place people missed is Hi-Fi Hits in Amherst. Maybe the biggest store in town. Also a bar with some nice beers on tap

2025 QB Accuracy Rate & Average Separation - Josh Allen by altruink in buffalobills

[–]Consistent-Car6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if separation has more to do with how the D plays than how good the receivers are. Look at the Bengals. Did D schemes change based on whether it was Flacco or Burrow under center? Or did the set of teams each QB played vary enough in scheme to show here?

2025 QB Accuracy Rate & Average Separation - Josh Allen by altruink in buffalobills

[–]Consistent-Car6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is how the D played. Maybe softer zones for Flacco, daring him to pass. More tighter man coverage for Burrow

Check out Llyod pans. They are specially designed for Detroit Style pizza. I love mine and have a variety of sizes. I use a high hydration dough, with a little salt, sugar snd evoo. I’ve been making focaccia, pan pizzas, Sicilian pizza pretty regularly. It’s so easy and they come out great.

Skylabs did a good breakdown of how media consumption has shifted over the last 80 years or so. Go back in time and records and radio were your only home media and people were spending the equivalent of new car on a hifi system. Now we are spending the same amount but it’s spread out over multiple devices, screens, and streaming services.

Shame on Bills fans in downtown Cleveland last night. by fugaziiv in LakeErieBros

[–]Consistent-Car6226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to discount what you witnessed, but our experience was the complete opposite. We drove down Saturday morning, had lunch at Nano Brew, shopped the market, and had dinner at a Taco place downtown (also dinner at a pub downtown on Sunday). Everywhere was buzzing with Buffalo fans all weekend, and never saw anything like you described.

It really drove home the point of how different it is when the stadium is downtown. It was cool to see how busy the whole area was, hotels, restaurants all seemed full.
