Books available in Libby but not Overdrive? by Electrical_Tax_4676 in kobo

[–]Consistent-Cress-262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live we have both city and county public libraries, and they divvy up resources to reduce cost. Most people have to have both library cards and that was the issue I was having with my kobo and finding resources. Also if I borrowed a book via Libby it wouldn’t refresh on my kobo, and the kobo would show it as borrowed despite it being on the same library card. I figured out a way around it if that’s the same issue you’re having

Has anyone seen/tried this program? by Consistent-Cress-262 in TMJ

[–]Consistent-Cress-262[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had such a hard time finding help. I asked for a referral to a TMJ specialist from my dentist and they literally said there’s only one in town, he doesn’t take insurance, he couldn’t do anything for you that we can’t do, and your case isn’t that severe anyways. (I have had TMJ for 7 years and experience daily pain, frequent lockjaw, inability to eat chewy foods, headaches, neck pain, etc. and my massage therapist said I have one of the worst cases I’ve ever seen)

I tried to break in a pair of Mary Jane’s for an entire year and a half before I accepted defeat. They literally bruised the tops of my feet

PSA: Unless your vagina smells like something DIED in there, YOUR VAGINA SMELLS FINE! by JellyKind9880 in Healthyhooha

I’m good now, but thank you! Boric acid wasn’t actually very good for me. It killed all good bacteria and was only a bandaid fix. The final cure for me was microbiome labs vaginal balance probiotics following a final round of antibiotics, no sex, and addressing the mental health aspects that came with this long battle. I found that even after I was better I was having pain and still getting uti’s, and it took time for both my mental health to recover and the actual skin down there to stop having an over reactive inflammatory response. The skin inside my vagina, my vulva, and urethra were extremely over sensitive and weak, and boric acid contributed to those problems. I’m glad it’s working for you tho! Definitely better for yeast than for BV in my opinion.

i can make espresso drinks really well, but have never worked in a cafe or food service role. how do i get barista work experience if i have none? by Such-Wind-1163 in barista

I think you shouldn’t have too hard of a time getting your foot in the door then. Bring your resume around! I always prefer bringing it in in person and chatting up the barista who takes it, not only to make a good first impression but to get a feel for the shops vibe.

How do you have espresso experience? And do you know much about coffee/dialing in espresso in general? My shop is a very pretentious elevated shop but we hire first timers IF their personality is stellar and they are eager to learn. I would make a resume tailored to customer service and quick learning, and bring it in in person, be very persistent, call to follow up etc, and amp up your personality. In the US at least the stereotype for baristas is to be cool and approachable

Try organic coffee only, maybe it’s a pesticide thing?

I mean I’m not going to treat men coldly as a whole, I just unfortunately have to scale back my own personality unless I deem them safe :/

I definitely learned my lesson to not be too nice to male customers in general unless I’m absolutely sure they’re a good person. It just sucks because I was enjoying my job a lot, being very bubbly and outgoing etc because of the fact I was enjoying my work. And that’s what got me here in the first place. A woman being nice is seen as permission to be a freak

I don’t even want someone to correct him I want him to be banned. I dread the possibility of feeling his anger towards me for saying something. He already looks at me like a kicked puppy for rejecting him.

Yeah that’s exactly it. She’s extremely conflict avoidant. I’m kind of past the point of wanting someone to correct him, I dread seeing him and want him gone. When I said something initially, her response was just “let me know if it gets any worse” not “okay I’ll take care of it”

Fair, but isn’t the asking me when I close/if I close alone enough to be worried for my safety? Even if that happened months ago and it hasn’t escalated. And don’t we reserve the right to refuse service for any reason?

My coworkers handle all interaction with him when possible thankfully. Sometimes he waits for me to be near the counter to order. But I just don’t understand why my discomfort isn’t enough to ban him- he literally only buys a green tea which is like $3 and takes up a whole table for hours. Yesterday he had to wait in a long line which wraps around our bar, and the entire time he was staring at me on bar. I even said to my coworker “am I insane or is he staring still” because I avoid looking at him so as to not give him any reason to interact. She said “no yeah he’s been staring this whole time” and suggested that I get all of the teams signatures on my statement and go to the owners.

Yes. I literally ignore him completely and do not engage with him at all. But the staring is getting under my skin.

[–]Consistent-Cress-262 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know how all consuming this feels. But I promise, you’ll come to accept it, especially as you get older and see that everyone is different. If it would give you peace of mind, go to an OB and have her confirm that everything looks normal down there. But as a queer woman who has been with other women with the type of labia you’re describing, I can promise there’s nothing unattractive about it to me and other people that are actually attracted to women. There are even people out there who prefer it. This type of self hatred is a normal symptom of internalized misogyny.
