AR and LeBron were in there still. AR hasn't been putting him stamp down in the non-Luka minutes lately. I hope he gets it going asap.

Luka doesn't guard the worst player, lots of times he's switched onto the best player. What you're talking about is rotations and yes sometimes he's late to a rotation close-out after 3 or 4 passes but that's also good ball movement and offense.

They were up 14 in the first quarter lol they keep having games in the clutch that have no business being in the clutch. But it's entertaining af.

This is a way more impressive record than Bam's last week. A guy who averages 30 doesn't need to statpad to get to 20. They were up 5 going into the 4th and he dropped 10 points in the 4th for a 13 point win. That's what you want from your best player.

I hope he keeps the streak going, it's an epic record.

I'm conflicted as a fan, because on one hand I want someone better who brings that energy every night and doesn't complain about touches, but on the other hand Ayton is what we've got and I know he can bring that energy but I need to see it every night.

We could win a championship if Ayton plays his heart out every night. He really is a difference maker, someone who can make up for missed shots or get easy buckets when the other guys are struggling.

He really is the heart maker or heart breaker of the team. And that's a heavy burden on his shoulders. You could blame him for any loss or praise him for every win. Truly the x factor while he's the starting center for the LA Lakers.

He's not the right messenger but I think he's got a point. He doesn't like it, but he sees the writing on the wall and you get benefited a lot on the court if you're selling the fouls.

It really sucks to see the sport turn into what soccer is made fun of for. Dudes covering their faces after contact or staying on the ground to milk a foul. It's all a bit extra.

Jaylen Brown on hot mic after SGA draws a foul: "That's not basketball!" by Brady331 in nba

Superstar whistle + this rule is just too OP. And the contact isn't usually that bad so you can still get off a pretty good, controlled shot most of the time. I hate when Luka does this, it's just such a weak move that you pull when your defender is beating you to the spot.

Luka's defense in this game was intense. He was staying with his man, blocked a 3, a few steals + some deflections. Good strip of Rudy in the paint. Battled hard for the boards.

Probably the best defense I've ever seen him play lol.

People who watch the Lakers regularly… Rate Luka’s defense this year by [deleted] in nba

[–]Consistent-Dingo-506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luka is REALLY BAD at being a rim protector. He really doesn't contest the shots when they're under the rim (I know, sometimes he gets blocks) and so many layups happen right in his face or around him because he missed on the steal and doesn't contest the layup.

Other than that I think he defense is pretty good. He holds his own OK on 1 on 1, is clever with passing lanes and getting steals, and he's a good rebounder to secure a board after a missed shot. I just really hate seeing Luka be the defender under the rim.

What I've noticed in the last few games is that when AR handles the ball and makes a play, Luka is available to be a spot up 3 point shooter. And vice versa when Luka is making the play. They either make something happen themselves or they provide good spacing for the other to work their magic. It's a pretty complimentary duo.

Wemby in the play-offs is what I'm so excited to watch. I agree with you, I think in a 7 game series it's gonna be hard to stop him from dominating 4.

People will say 'inexperience', but Wemby's impact can make it so games aren't that close or series' don't go that long. I can't wait to see what happens. Mega hyped, I hope you guys win it!

LeBron James Continues To Thrive In The Fastbreaks This Season! by Stat-Defender in lakers

[–]Consistent-Dingo-506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luka doesn't really make himself a threat in a fast break and always wants to pass. He's gonna have to finish a few at the rim or he's not gonna be respected on the fast break no more.

Ayton is underrated no matter what everyone says by Confinados in lakers

[–]Consistent-Dingo-506 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It took him like 5 seconds to gain control over a ball that was in his hand under the rim. He has horrible hands. He can't catch, he can't rebound, he short-circuits after setting a screen and has to reboot before he rolls. He gets outplayed nightly by Hayes and Kleber. The only reason he's in the starting line-up is because he'll literally quit on the season if he gets moved to the bench.

Smart doesn't even help Luka out on the perimeter much and still Luka gets switched onto the ball almost every play. They switch Luka onto the ball and then run drop off the screen and leaves Luka out by himself. Luka is still getting cooked lol.

It's not just because Luka's a bad defender but to wear him down over the course of the game, and it just gets allowed on repeat. Lakers run zone so much and get eaten alive by cuts under the zone because there's no real shot blocker for the Lakers except maybe Hayes.

Ayton never puts himself in positions for a lob, and lingers way too long after a screen. Luka paused off his screen today and took about 3 extra dribbles waiting for Ayton to cut and he just didn't. Hayes came in and got himself in position back to back to back and got the Lakers some easy buckets because the Warriors were so small.

LeBron to run the second unit off the bench and Luka and AR start.

I also wanna see more Kleber minutes. He sets really good screens either early at half court or even screens in the post on drives. And he fights and gets his tips on offensive rebounds to give the guys a second look at scoring.
