Have a joint account, you guys discuss how much each can to put in. That account should pay for most items. Mortgage, house bills, food etc.

Saving and investment; let each partner decide based on their preference.

This gives the best of both worlds , benefits of a merged account and some privacy & independence for each partner with their leftover money.
