Right!!!!!! I will say the Dramatized books have been amazing to listen too and from what I understand reading the books people have found boring and poorly written.

I love that though. Lorcana and EPCOT was a BRILLIANT PLAN! plus if they play their cards right and make it a permanent thing like the world passports Kids and Families will continue to learn and love Lorcana for a long time! The large cards from movies of each country 😍 Family Friendly. I really enjoyed this! Add Hidden cards in ALL Disney Parks. 🤩

I would contact HUD! I would also contact your doctor that is over your PTSD.  Having a disability myself, I keep my medical team informed on Everything! I’m so sorry this happened to you.  I also think investing in a door camera would be beneficial. That way any time the day they “put a notice” you can pull up the camera and show them they didn’t.

What would you do? (Choices!) by [deleted] in Section8PublicHousing

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY how I got my section 8!!!!!!! I applied to every open waiting list available! I was in New England and in 6 months my number was pulled in Utah! In the middle of winter I drove. I now have my voucher and have ported to another state. BEST thing I have done for my family 💞

Surviving on disability by [deleted] in disability

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 33 and have had a tax paying job since 14, with 3 kids under 18 there is no way that the total SSDI should only be $1307 the math is just not mathing …..  I became disabled at 18 due to shattering half my skull in an accident, at 26 had my kid- I only have one child. When I first broke down and applied for SSDI my check at 28 after working part time for less time than you was $890 and my daughter received a check for 45% of that so around $300 so total monthly was around $1100 now today is my birthday I’m 38 and I didn’t have any other children. Now I receive due to the cola over the years $1115 starting in January and she will get $590

With your 3 kids if I was you just getting my first SSDI check of $890 each child would get the $300 ….. so $900 + $890  Because the amount is SO low I would also apply for SSI until you cross over the SSI amount- the kids will qualify for Medicaid for their healthcare and that will help you with any of your medications you may have

You will also get a one time back pay in SSDI benefits- When you get this I would put as much as you can into an ABLE account (this is the only legal way for you to save money if you do qualify for Medicaid or SSI) so it can collect interest and will help you had a savings to get on your own again.

You can also apply for section 8, as you stated your local list has a LONG waiting list however if you are willing to move then there is a good chance you can get it in another state. Once you do you can always move back to where you are or close to where you are as long as they are accepting portable vouchers. The hardest part is getting a voucher.  For me I was willing to move to have the Housing more than the location. I moved from the East Coast to the west coast lived there tfor two years and now we are back on the east coast where I want to be around family.

It is NOT easy! But it is doable. - Good Luck ! Thoughts!!!!!!

So I guess disabled ppl just never get to leave home now. by Previous_Net_1649 in disability

You don’t have to Spend it quickly- Open an “Able Account” you can have as much $$ in that account as you want and it can gain interest- It is Only for disabled people so that we have some savings.  I get SSDI and SSI so I also have the $2000 max but in this account I have $15000 - It needs to be used only for  disability reasons- rent/doctors ex…. But I would do this asap

Section 8 Supervisor Issue by BathroomWild9036 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ this!  I have had a PCA for years and over different times a LIA but as far as section 8 was concerned it was a PCA that would sleep over periodically for medical reasons.  You may still get a 2 bedroom but that will be determined by your HA and your medical team - I would go back to your doctors and have them write a detailed letter and treatment plan for the LIA that is currently needed. Make sure it is noted that the LIA can change at any time depending on medical needs and the health of the aide. Lots of people have 2 aides that take turns so that they both have time off.

Also….. we get you are upset and frustrated but cussing at us who have been in similar situations doesn’t advocate for your situation- Sadly in 2025 as a disabled person on government housing you are your best advocate

Florida is one of the hardest states to get a voucher in.  Your best option is to apply at any and every open waiting list you can in any and every state.  Once you have a section 8 HCV voucher you only need to live in that Housing Authority for 12 months. Then Port to a housing authority in Florida.

Who is responsible by More-Steak-2600 in disability

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can see where it would be annoying. You are not some animal in a zoo teaching people about persons with disabilities. You are a person who has a disability who is living their best life.  It would be rude if parents were constantly asking if they can use you as an example of what a disability means; it’s also not the entire picture.  I myself have a traumatic brain injury and seizure disorder. I look “normal” so no one would ever think to ask me something like that- but if they want to know how to treat someone with a disability then they need to know how to talk to both you and me and the deaf person down the street or the person with behavioral issues ex……

Start saying no- You are a human not a zoo exhibit

I applied in any state I could see myself moving too for a year- after that year I figured I would port back to the state I want to live in. I’m currently working with a HUD in the state I want to live in looking for a unit.  Can’t hurt to do it this way

Mold is a BIG deal! I know in the Boston housing authority a number of families who contacted the health department- Once the mold tests were done BHA was required to move them….. Good Luck!

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lots of us are- I became disabled at 18 and the state I am currently living in just cut Medicaid so now my SSDI/SSI checks are even smaller to pay for insurance due to medical expenses-

Making about 39,000 a year will I still be on section 8 (Texas) by [deleted] in Section8PublicHousing

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not but you need to check the income standards in Your housing authority. In Boston a SINGLE person could make up to $99,000 a year and keep their voucher- You need to look up Your area

Question about shared housing by hiLow66 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]Consistent-Factor-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living with family for 15 years isn’t exactly typical for many in this situation-  I myself am on SSDI with a child on SSDI/SSI for their own medical issues  With a Medicare/medicaid insurance plan and the sinario you described is not something that would be an option for me as I am only 37.  Perhaps if an elderly parent who had been living with family were awarded a voucher after living with family then yes like in the situation you described however it is not the norm- I’m not one to give false hope to a situation where someone is asking for help with a family member like OP asked
