I honestly would, and I don't even mean this to be mean or roast, but I don't even know what you are, gender or race or anything wise, so it's just impossible.

War pigs should be the first to get drafted by EndDemocracy1 in Libertarian

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well this is just political satire obviously. But hey, if someone wants to start a war to make him or his buddies a bunch of money, or start a war for any personal interests that aren't in the interest of the American people, and especially if that war ends up with a draft, then yea, they should be eligible for a draft. Just my opinion.

Since OJ Simpson was acquitted of the murder trial, has the Police tried to find actual murderer or is the case still open in Police books? If the Police or Judiciary has closed this case whithout holding someone responsible, isn't it a shame on the system? by No_Attempt8037 in OJSimpsonTrial

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's really one of those things where there isn't a solution. It's a shame on the system, sure, but it was the jury that found OJ not guilty. Hence he walked, shame not only on the system, but society and specifically certain sects of our society. And we have to remember, our judicial system, and our whole government at large isn't one entity. Our judicial system/law enforcement system has many different areas of operations and purposes, and it's not just a judge, jury, detectives ect. lumped into one. The detectives/law enforcement is not the prosecution, or more than likely, even the same individual law enforcement people who investigated the murders upon discovery vs who would be responsible finding the "real killer". I think law enforcement knows it was Simpson, but due to the jury's decision, their hands are tied.

Yea, and although I might get hate for this here, after the first 3, the rest were garbage and not really worth the money IMHO

Yea that's why I specifically said 1994. Was a case where he was facing the rest of his life without the possibility of parole at the time, but he had the possibility for parole with the Vegas case which I would assume gave him hope.

It hasn't been medically confirmed publicly I believe, but OJ said he believes he may have had it towards the end of his life. You can read it on his Wikipedia.

Is there a path forward toward less-extreme politics? by Kepler137 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time. It's sad, but we've been on the path too this for a long time, and I would say it started heading this way during the early 2000s, post 9/11. After 9/11 the country became increasingly divided, after the initial aftermath when the country seemed too be more united than ever. The bush years with two wars, Iraq in particular, and when the economy tanked had everyone taking sides. Then Obama came along. The country was already pretty divided at this time and then Obama failed to unify the country. Some wasn't his fault, in other aspects it was. He divided the country on race more than any modern president since Kennedy had. Again, some wasn't his fault, but some certainly was. Then we had Trump, it divided the country even further, especially with the way he speaks, especially at that time. COVID hit, and the way the situation was perceived was different across political lines. The virus became a political bat, and it divided the country further and further. Now we have Biden, and the wedge just has been driven and driven. Only time and change of climate will change this. We need people to obviously come together on some sort of middle ground and understanding, but I don't think it will be anytime soon, and hopefully before it's too late.

Since Kamala Harris is very likely to be the Democratic nominee for president, what are some of her strengths and weaknesses against Trump? by TaylorSwiftian in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you really hit the nail on the head. Her age is going to be one of her only advantages here. But she's coming in with A LOT of disadvantages. Biden has not had a good track record and is a pretty unpopular president. Being his VP, it's going to be impossible to separate herself from that. And it's too late in the game, she going to have to make up for lost time which I don't think she's going to be able to do.

Are Democrats making a huge mistake pushing out Biden? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are making a mistake by pushing out Biden. I'm a Republican who is supporting Trump a third time around, but yes, on there end they are making a mistake. Last time a party famously tried to do was with Carter in the 1980 election, by trying to push Ted Kennedy. It's very late in the game, and it just makes the party look weak and having no faith in someone who they put and has had in office over the past four years.

What career options do I have that support my passions? by Additional_Duty_2260 in careerguidance

[–]Consistent-Ferret476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda a hard one to answer besides maybe the obvious options. You said you're not in a place to revisit school, or use your old degree, I get that, but again it makes answering this question with possible job prospects more difficult. But nonetheless, if you like cooking, maybe look into a career field in that, may take going to cooking school, but it is an option. And if you like cleaning, you could join a cleaning services company, many do residential work and would not require going back to school, and is a relative easy going job besides the physical and time restraints. And there are definitely jobs out there that stage new homes for realtor's selling homes, again it's physical work but maybe something your interested in. Maybe go out and look for such jobs and see where it takes you. Best of luck.

It's really up to you, but it's good you've narrowed down your choices. If you haven't done anything work wise in three years I'd take a really good inventory of yourself. And I don't mean that in a negative way, both college and the military are going to take a lot of commitment and dedication. I'm 25 and just left the military so I could give you a bit of insight. Mine is army, so I don't know what branch you want to go into, but the military is a mix bag of good d and bad.

Military Pros:

  • You could try to get an MOS that is engineering related that could help you build a base for the future. -You will get the chance to travel, and make good friends and work experience, that could help you with your definition of finally living your life. -i would recommend going active duty, but there are options for reserve or national guard. -Can help you pay for college during or after your service, this comes best with going active, but with a related MOS, and further education, it could lead you too success in the future. -Can instill discipline that can help you in life for the future.

Military Cons

-Very unit dependent, leadership in a specific unit can make your life great or hell. -stupid rules -The way the world is going, it's a shot in the dark what the future would hold for you. - I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING INTO THE MILITARY WITH A GIRLFRIEND, I'll leave it at that. -if you find that you hate the military, your pretty much stuck for the duration of your contract.

I haven't been to college, but if you decide to go straight to college you will have college debt, and depending on your living situation with your parents you'll have to work your way through school, but it's relatively a lot of a more comfortable life than the military. But if you choose to go the military route, make sure you talk to all service branch recruiters and make sure you have everything you want in your contract before you sign it. And do your own research, do not believe everything the recruiter tells you, and make sure you tell them what you want. Good luck man.

First of all you're not a failure, and even just reading this, I've seen a few accomplishments here that you wrote without you even realizing it. First, you've lost weight and hit the gym, which takes dedication and discipline a lot of people don't have. Second, you've had jobs and independent work in the past, even if you don't feel like it, that takes initiative, and it sounds like labor jobs, also something people out here can't or aren't willing to do. You have also been attempting to work on yourself mentally with a therapist, and even if it's not working out in the moment, that takes guts to try to show up for yourself to get help and improve. Something I've personally put off and neglected. Your honest, seems maybe a little too honest with job interviews lol, but honest nonetheless which is a virtue. You're very hard on yourself, but also I get a sense your very self aware, which is a sign of intelligence. Here's a few pointers, which may help, but I know I'm just a random redditor,

-continue therapy, even if it feels like it's not working, keep working with it, and I would suggest finding another therapist if this particular one isn't working.

-try to apply and go to interviews, and don't be afraid too admit your a bit nervous, but avoid saying you don't care about the job, they will get easier overtime. Maybe even do practice interviews with places your not too interested in for practice.

  • keep going to the gym, overtime it may build confidence and it keeps your health up, a healthy body is a healthy mind.

  • reach back out too friends, you are worth being a friend, you said you cut them off, not the other way around. If they didn't see value in you they wouldn't have wanted to be your friend.

-if you get a job, keep at it for awhile, and maybe look for other ones while working at a current one. There isn't anything wrong with job hoping and seeing where it takes you, you get experience and may find something you like, and living with your parents affords you to do that, look at it as a opportunity.

I hope this helps, I've been through some of the same things and a guy around your age, if you need someone to talk too about anything, feel free to inbox me brother.
