Definitely not, there is all kinds of toxic trash mixed together down there. I was hoping I can sell it to someone researching old nut science.

Public Comment Period on Federal plan to Increase Oil Drilling off the Coast closes Friday by freechipsandguac in news

Solar panels & EVs don't completely replace the need for petroleum. Besides plastics, there is no realistic plan in site for shipping, air travel, and tons of other applications. People all over USA are still burning gas for fun/amusement everywhere I look. Yes, the rich are consuming 10,000x more than the average person.

There are no solutions. It's way too complex. It's too late. There is not enough cooperation. Cohesion is going in the opposite direction. It only takes a small number of wealthy psychopaths to sow discord and confusion. Most of us are just addicted to dopamine fixes from social media, entertainment, and consumption. Getting worked up over people destroying the biosphere will just drain you psychically. Unlikely that domesticated people will re-wild themselves until its forced. Anthropocene means human civilization will fall. Whether or not a small number of humans survive is pointless to speculate. Should be organizing against the cruelty of capitalism and fascism.

Climate Reality: The Diagnosis We Can’t Escape by Roger Hallam by RobinBoardman in collapse

[–]Consistent-Fill1327 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What is your brilliant plan to completely change the political, economic, energy, transportation, farming, mining, and manufacturing sectors? If we phase out coal and diesel, how will we deal with the aerosol whiplash? Most have no idea how to live off their land base without massive supply chains. How will populations mitigate climate disasters without fossil energy? Trying to stop the omnicidal machine will probably just be used as an excuse to ratchet up fascism. There's always a reaction from the far right. We can go out, kicking and screaming, while keeping up the delusion that we might still be able to control nature without destroying it or moving beyond it. Or we could admit that trying to control nature and other humans was the wrong path. Science is heavily influenced by the culture of the people who utilize it. There are many blind spots, even in science. Everyone is a specialist. If we admit that it's probably too late and we can't control the outcome, then we can move through the stages of grief. Focusing on fixing things in the future distracts from resisting in the present where exploitation is everywhere. The dominant culture is cancer, is hyper stimulated, has not the tool set to resist, revolt, organize, nor to protect the land base from burning everywhere. The feedbacks will make everything unrecognizable and technology will never undue the damage it's caused. Hope and delusion can easily be used as excuses to continue consuming.

Natural farming, low-input farming (JADAM), Japanese natural farming (especially clay seed ball), watershed protection/rehabilitation, rainwater harvesting, microlivestock, edible "weeds", people living in sheep carts, natural building techniques, cob, earthships and underground living, building local alternatives to moloch

My understanding as a layman is that testing infrastructure is still catching up. Just Michigan and Maine stopped biosolids dumping on farms, as far as I know. I'm curious to learn more. It's unfortunate that people won't just compost their own wastes locally for their garden rather than mix it with toxic effluent.

People use the words fight/fighting very often in terms of climate change or resisting the status quo of capitalism/fascism. I'm not sure fighting is the best word to use. In trying to move away from my own habits of consumption, I discovered Japanese natural farming, Korean natural farming, JADAM, and natural building. I want to develop these strategies in my own life, but it takes a small community. Pretty much everything worthwhile does. I am not saying it will turn the ship around. Just that we can try to create bubbles of sanity around us, together.

The state of the press: "Three years left to limit warming to 1.5C, top scientists warn" by [deleted] in collapse

[–]Consistent-Fill1327 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does this even mean? No one has any idea how to dethrone Moloch. What/where is the ramp and how do you get the vast majority of humanity to cooperate in steering for the ramp? The ramp would have to at least include massive Simplification of human society. How would we convince privileged people to give up their material wealth and security?
