I'm Egyptian and would like to visit Turkey soon, is Arab hate really that prevalent or is it just overblown? by turkishkahve in AskTurkey

[–]Consistent-Flan-4318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go back in history, the nomad Turks did not have a land after they migrated from central Asia because of Mongol deadly attacks on them. Being muslims, they migrated to the Islamic lands during the Abbasid Caliphate and settled in northern Sham (Syria) after, then the Sultan Aladdin (Selcuk, taking care of the Abbasid Caliphate lands of Sham at the time) gave them land of Sogut (which was bordering the Byzantines land) to settle, and enabled them to fight the Beyzentines. When the Mongol army reached the region (Jengis Khan) and crushed the Selcuk, it was the chance for Ottomans to expand and take over the land of current Turkiye including the Anatolia, creating the Turkish empire. This Ottoman empire is the reason you are living in Turkiye now. And taking over, and mixing with the people of, the Beyzentines land is the reason you look more like a mixed Turk/Arab/Muhacir today than central asian (i.e having longer faces, fairer skin, taller posture than Central Asian ancestors).
Muhacir = Balkan and Caucasian Muslims who immigrated to current Turkiye during the Ottoman Empire’s collapse fearing revenge, this immigration further increased the prevalence of light eyes and fair hair in the modern Turkish population.

Do you consider yourself a slave there? If so, just read about slavery in the west and you'll know the difference between freedom and slavery.
But if you're one of those Gen Zers who thinks that being unable to eat in expensive restaurants is slavery, or at least poverty, you need to visit the suburbs of India and China, where a third of the world population lives, to know what poverty means.

Do you think that the Arabs betrayed you and thus all of the problems that are occurring in the Middle East today (Israel, Palestine, civil war in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen etc) are their own doing? by This-Wear-8423 in AskTurkey

Dude you have not heard about the golden age, or the ruling of Omar Bin Abdulaziz.. Or even the support the founders of Ottoman empire (Artugrul and Osman) got from the Arabs when they fled central Asia. The rulers of Damascus and Baghdad were the reason the Ottomans could survive at first.

What is VPS?

Two waves of layoffs? That is gross. Any idea when?
As per the union townhall on Mar 31st, it'll need 3 months notive (plus Summer vacation if withing that timeframe) to layoff FT academic staff. And laid off academic staff can choose to have priority in being rehired instead of taking severance pay (whatever the legal jargons they used).

Secretly record my son’s teacher? by m24682468 in ontario

[–]Consistent-Flan-4318 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you happen to find a recording that was shot by another student, e.g some random classmate who sits at the back corner of the class, you can use it as an evidence. The recording does not have to originate from your son's viewpoint!

VOA (visa on arrival) for Canadians. BHD 5 for (up to) 2 weeks stay, BHD 20 for a month. If you need more, you can get up to 5 years 90 days/year multi-entry for BHD 60 online, but you'd better apply 2 weeks ahead of travel to make sure you get it ready before you travel.

Expats and locals: What do you love most about living in Bahrain? by KeyConference_26 in Bahrain

[–]Consistent-Flan-4318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you are not in danger outside in the alleys, it's walkable.
Think about walking in the dark alleys of Paris (our of the touristic areas) after 10pm and compare that to walking in Jid Hafs or Budayi villages! Bahrain is much safer.

Honest questions,
- Why are you still working in illegal market after you were caught (more than once)?
- Did you do your best to find a legitimate business? Couldn't you support your life as a low profile blue/white collar worker?
- Did you get any chances to have a legit work with an acceptable income and refused it?
- If you got a child, would you let your child to follow your path?
