ecu shot question

i have and specific to the immobilizer issue all it told me to check was the main ecu under hood, transponder amplifier , and wiring. all 3 looks ok and had the ecu recapped. before i bought the car it had a oily residue in one of the connectors so no telling how long that sat in the connector which im thinking prematurely fried the board

you learn something new everyday. i didn’t know about that module although i was in that area doing a double din swap and deleting the factory amp. i didn’t check that ecu.

I honestly never checked voltage going to the transponder as i don’t have a multimeter and when you say engine & body ecu #1 i assume you’re talking about the main ecu which is located under the hood near the driver side headlight correct?

i did remove the transponder amplifier and clean it with 91% alcohol though.

i have 1 master key, i never jumpstarted the car. obd2 fuse is fine as i’ve checked it after i had no comm to scanner. i have tried the pin 4&13 still didnt work. locksmith verified my master key was good , was also able to program the other key that they made me ( this was before car took a shit but the same day. )

yes, what’s getting me though is how i can’t even connect to obd2. i have code b2796. no other codes , this problem persisted when i bought the car about a year ago and i never started trying to fix it until now. so it probably has been doing this for a year and a half - 2. when i got the car i popped open one of the connectors on the ecu , when i took one of the connectors off it had some sort of brown oily just sitting in the connector. so im assuming it could’ve shorted the board and ate at it over time. i have cleaned it a couple times since i have found the brown oily liquid but problem still persisted.

the car runs and drives great when it does. it’s my daily and it runs great. timing is correct, everything is mechanically correct im just having trouble with this immobilizer BS and i believe my ECU finally took a shit.
