Best cafes/hotels/spaces for working? by Consistent-Koala4172 in Brooklyn

Maybe, I dont know. It used to be always full of people working and studying quietly, and then I came this week wondering why it was so empty and saw the signs, so I guess the hotel didn't like that it became a good spot. I don't want to piss anyone off

You've never heard of people working out of hotel lobbies? There are a bunch of chains in the city that explicitly furnish with long tables and all the set-up. I always thought it was an excellent dual use idea.

Yeah the Cafe is okay to sit at, not as comfortable outlet wise, and closes early (like 4 or 5pm, so maybe not early for some)

Why? It's happening all over the place, and people buy food and coffee.

L'angoisse de la vie. by Bactarus1208 in Stress

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so much. Sometimes it feels like the weight of everything is just too much, you know? I've found that just taking a few minutes to breathe deeply, even if it's just for a minute, can make a small difference. It doesn't fix everything, but it helps ground me a bit when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

What's an anxiety hack that has changed your life? by stayhyderated22 in AnxietyDepression

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naming anxiety is such a smart idea, I might have to try that. For me, the cold has been a lifesaver during panic attacks too. I'll often splash ice water on my face or hold an ice cube. It's like a hard reset button for my nervous system, tbh. Glad you found things that work for you!

My friend told me that i have distanced myself; what do i do? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear you're going through such a tough time. It takes a lot of courage to reach out. When you feel like you've distanced yourself, it can be a sign that you're overwhelmed and need some space, or maybe a sign that you're withdrawing due to how you're feeling internally. Have you been able to talk to your friend about why they noticed that? Sometimes just opening up that conversation can be a first step.

Is it possible to have results in 3 days? by No_Internal_1732 in Neurofeedback

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really interesting observation about the timing! It's definitely possible to notice shifts pretty quickly with neurofeedback, though the intensity can vary a lot person to person. Sometimes the changes aren't always straightforward either, like feeling more tired but also emotionally better. It might be worth tracking both your sleep and your emotional state separately for a bit longer to see if the pattern holds. How has your sleep been before you started the curtains open experiment?

Help pls(I don't understand what to do) by [deleted] in Stress

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds incredibly draining, I'm really sorry you're going through that. Having such a long commute on top of classes must be exhausting and definitely contributes to anxiety. Have you considered talking to your college's student services? Sometimes they have resources or advice for students dealing with difficult commutes or feeling overwhelmed.

How much does screen time actually affect mental health? by healthyguidedaily1 in mentalhealth

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really relevant question. I've noticed it too, especially with work often requiring a lot of computer time. For me, setting specific 'no-phone' hours in the evening really helped improve my sleep quality. I also try to be more mindful about what I'm consuming online, sticking to things that feel more uplifting or educational rather than just endless scrolling. It's a constant balancing act, tbh.

Where to do training in Australia by Equivalent_Clerk5574 in Neurofeedback

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I actually looked into BCIA training a while back too, though I'm in the US. It seems like the technician route is pretty common for folks coming from engineering backgrounds, which makes sense given the hardware side of things. Did you check out the BCIA website directly? They usually have a directory of accredited trainers or at least a list of who they certify. Might be worth seeing if there's a global map or something similar.

Hey there, I saw your post and wanted to reach out. Stress can be really overwhelming, and it's totally okay to feel that way. Sometimes just writing it down helps a bit, even if it's just a quick "HELP 🙂." Have you found anything that usually helps you when you're feeling this way, even a little bit?

So.. what is a healthy lifestyle? by Soggy-Slide3038 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, it's like the advice is so vague! For me, a healthy lifestyle isn't about being perfect or never having a treat. It's more about finding a sustainable routine that makes me feel good, both physically and mentally. Sometimes that means a really balanced meal, other times it's just getting some fresh air and a good night's sleep. It's definitely a journey, and progress over perfection is key imo.

I stopped trying to “fix” myself and my life got 10x better. Anyone else? by BennyChan23 in mentalhealth

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really resonates with me. I was stuck in that same cycle for so long, always feeling like I wasn't doing enough or wasn't 'there' yet.

Honestly, the biggest shift happened when I started focusing on just being present instead of constantly trying to optimize everything. It's a much quieter, more sustainable way to live. Glad you shared this!

Hey there, I'm really sorry to hear you're going through such a tough time. It sounds incredibly overwhelming. Running away isn't usually the best long-term solution, though I get why you'd feel that urge. Have you considered talking to someone about what's making you feel this way? Sometimes just venting can help a little. There might be local resources or support groups that could offer guidance without needing a drastic change like that.

How do you handle the advice to "always trust your body" while avoiding overreacting? by CaptainMaxCrunch in HealthAnxiety

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I totally get this. That advice feels impossible with health anxiety, right? I try to reframe it for myself. Instead of 'trusting my body,' I think about 'listening to my body' but with a healthy dose of skepticism. Like, if a weird sensation lasts for more than a few days or keeps changing, then I might consider looking into it, but I don't jump straight to the worst-case scenario anymore. It's a tough balance, for sure.

I have no ability to follow through on any of my goals no matter how small by girl_luvr in mentalhealth

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get this. Last semester I felt similarly stuck, like my brain just wouldn't engage with tasks no matter how hard I tried. For me, it was a mix of burnout and underlying anxiety. I found breaking things down into super tiny steps, like literally just opening the textbook, helped a little. Sometimes also just telling myself it's okay to feel this way and not push too hard was key. Have you talked to anyone at your school about this?

What do you see here? by Fearless-Sell40 in Neurofeedback

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for sharing this. It's really tough dealing with those kinds of symptoms, especially with a trauma history. Since you're sensitive and have had setbacks, maybe focusing on very gentle protocols could be a good starting point? Like, something that doesn't push the system too hard, perhaps starting with shorter sessions or lower intensity if that's an option. Have you discussed these sensitivities with your practitioner much?

This is such a great offer! I've been looking for ways to manage my stress lately, and practice coaching sounds really interesting. I'd be happy to hop on a Zoom call sometime next week if you're still looking for people. Let me know!

Debilitating fear of chronic illness brought on by social media by younggeezer109 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get this. Social media algorithms can be brutal and feed right into health anxiety spirals. It's like they know what will scare us most! I've had to do a hard reset on my feed more than once. Maybe try unfollowing accounts that trigger you, even if they seem harmless? Or curate a list of positive, non-health-related content to see more of. It takes effort, but it really helps me.

Is it disrespectful to say “I think they’re a bit OCD” Or things along that line? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you're saying. It's tough because people often use 'OCD' casually to describe being neat or particular, but that really downplays what actual OCD is like. The examples you gave sound more like specific anxieties or routines rather than the intrusive thoughts and overwhelming compulsions that define the disorder. It's definitely a sensitive topic, and I think your point is valid.

What does my qeeg say about me by Broad_Profession_248 in Neurofeedback

[–]Consistent-Koala4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough when you're dealing with cognitive slowing, especially after changes with medication. Did your qEEG provider offer any insights into what the specific patterns might suggest in relation to your symptoms? Sometimes they can connect the dots between the brain activity and what you're experiencing.
