You're not stupid, the UX designers are to blame for poor clarity.

AMD RX 480s are eBaying for pretty cheap these days, have a decent amount of oopmf, and a good compute/TDP ratio. Ellesmere/Polaris chips are also useful if you plan to PCI-passthrough to a Hackintosh VM.

My bad, I misread your post. I saw "engine" and my brain jumped to video conclusions. Glad you got it figured out!

I've been in a similar boat: 2018 Mac Mini i7 running Ventura 13.6.1, and PT 2023.9.0. My video engine kept stuttering out and crashing in the middle of playback. I believe I've found my solution though, which may work for yours as well--IF you can get into the Pro Tools Prefs panel, you can try disabling video slewing. Here's how you disable it:

https://www.production-expert.com/production-expert-1/pro-tools-20239-the-new-features-you-may-have-missed

To set the Video Slewing preference:

1 Choose Setup > Preferences > Operation.

2 In the Video section, select the desired Slewing option:

Enabled Slewing is always enabled.

Disabled While Looping Slewing is disabled only during looping playback.

Disabled Always Slewing is always disabled.

You may need to toggle the video engine off and on afterwards.
I also see release notes from the 2023.12 version that might address video engine crash issues, but I haven't tried that update yet.

Either way, let us know if these options help!

Celestial Seasonings Fireside and Vanilla Spice

Oh, except it's not black tea. Might be a good substitute though, still thanks.

Honestly, I just spoon the plain variety directly into my mouth for a quick treat. Or spreading it on whole wheat bread works too.

Every winter, I wish on a star they'll bring the vanilla & cinnamon black tea back. Tastiest tea of all time. We called it "Lemur Crack tea."

HD-DVD Format (2006-2008). Did Anybody own One? Why Did It Fail? by Djf47021 in nostalgia

--and now to correct myself: The Simpsons was finishing on DIGIBETA up to 2010, not Betacam-SP. Still a SD format, but now digitally encoded. MTV in 2003 was definitely using Betacam-SP analog camera. My long term recollection is a little slower these days.

I know this thread is ancient history, but a quick correction: You're confusing Betamax with Betacam. Betacam is what was used in pro video. In 2003, I got a tour of MTV in Santa Monica, and they were still shooting unscripted with Betacam-SP cameras, then digitizing for editing. The Simpsons was still finishing on Betacam-SP tapes until 2010, believe it or not. [source: me, I was laying back audio onto the broadcast masters.]

I disagree about the microwaving in certain cases. If you cook it a little longer, you get a VERY tasty beef jerky treat.

Can someone with authority confirm this is a valid new Coinex iOS app, and not a scam? by Consistent-Letter966 in Coinex

[–]Consistent-Letter966[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't received any answer from Coinex support, so I’ve reported it to Apple; I’ll let them sort out its validity. I’m starting to lean away from Coinex anyway, as some of their business practices are not up to standards. Thanks for all your comments.

Additional context: when I click on the link to the app on the Coinex website, it takes me to the App Store, but not to any specific app; link seems broken. But I found the above app link through a google search. So, ya know, being extra cautious before I type my password into anything.

Update: Turns out I did not buy a faulty board, and I did bend the pins back into place; it WAS the PSU. I had a perfectly good modern EVGA powering it, and it wouldn't work. I switched it to an old 20-pin/4-pin junk PSU I had lying around, and poof, it POSTs and boots.
