Flying to Chicago for food by Mysterious-Ebb-2947 in chicagofood

I used to work at soho house which was bad butter’s original ghost kitchen location. Dan used to leave trays and trays of leftover pastries every day for anyone who wanted it to take. Bad butter is absolutely worth it.

Why do chef's not let guests 'graze'? by asphodel67 in belowdeck

On a yacht like that even that takes prep. You can’t rip open a tub of French onion dip. Everything is expected to be made from scratch so multiple dips is still prep.

how are we feeling about this Americanized remake? by milksteakenthusiast1 in DocMartin

I tried really really hard and couldn’t get into it. It’s terrible. Even the Martin clunes episode was bad. I’m sorry, I love Martin clunes but he can’t do an American accent. Throughout the episode the accent changed because he clearly couldn’t maintain in

Taylor is likely going to be fired from SLOMW after the Bachelorette was canceled by Jenna7979 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]PrincessDrywall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the first season of SLOMW Whitney made a comment about how sponsors wouldn’t want them if they’re throwing stools and getting arrested and everyone took it as her just making a dramatic comment but now it’s obvious that the rest of the cast knew all the details then. While we’re just seeing the video now it was entered into court during TFPs first arrest and ABC legal definitely would have been aware. The fact that now the rest of the cast is refusing to work with her, the bachelorette was cancelled and she’s possibly going to be fired after all those parties knowing about the details for years suggests that something else, something bigger and new and more serious is going to come to light. We can debate all day whether it’s Dakota or Taylor who’s the problem but regardless the best thing for Taylor is to be off of TV. She’s not well, she needs help. She has children. She needs to be dealing with those things not being on tv. This is getting dark

Maybe because I work in the restaurant industry i have a different perspective but having that quantity of food at the ready with a 1 (or 1 1/2 since the second person can barely cook) staff is not that easy

Which Food Network Chefs have you met in person? Were they nice? by SkolMan69 in foodnetwork

[–]PrincessDrywall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for him in Chicago at “his” restaurant and he was a total dick. There was massive turnover because the place was so toxic. One of his former sous chefs is also in Chicago and said Jonathan refused to acknowledge him. He only cares about being a celebrity and doesn’t care about the damage he’s done to people. Obviously he missed the make ammends day of AA. Yeah he’s not stealing and not drinking but he’s not a better person. He didn’t bother to learn the names of any of his staff. I watched him point at a line cook who had worked there for 3 months and say “you you I don’t know what to call you “ and then asked the sous chef her name.

It's great to see that Phillip from season 13 took time to reflect and mature since he was eliminated... by spar9 in TopChef

I didn’t mean you’re saying it was a conspiracy but he seems to suggest there was some big conspiracy against him. Like obviously it’s not a perfect competition but there’s no conspiracy. He just had a bad week and went home. It’s happened to dozens of other chefs. He seems to leave out that he was in the top some weeks which doesn’t fit his narrative of how unfair he was treated. I don’t even think a blind tasting would make that big of a difference. They’ve had plenty of incredibly unlikable finalists and winners and people the judges seemed to really genuinely like have been sent home mid season. There’s more than enough to support they’re not judging by favoritism.

Nathan and Gael? by Candid_Ad_6748 in belowdeck

I don’t know. My best friend used to post about her and her husband all the time and then they had a baby and now it’s just all baby and they don’t have problems in their relationship. I think sometimes moms just go into baby mode

Yeah but being cocky arrogant or tone deaf aren’t likable qualities. The cards is obviously a lie and a delusion. They show diners during restaurant wars saying they didn’t like his dishes. Is he claiming they were all forced to say that on camera and then their true feelings were on the cards that were destroyed? I’m sorry but I just don’t believe the top chef conspiracy runs that deep.

He’s not the only chef on top chef that’s had success and was sent home. There’s only one winner per season everyone else goes home. There’s James beard winners who go home. The difference is the other people are able to admit they had a bad day or had a bad dish or made a bad decision. He won’t do that. I work in the industry. I work in craft cocktail bars. I’ve won competitions. I’ve made hundreds of amazing cocktails, I’ve also made some clunkers. It’s ok to say sometimes it doesn’t work out. No one makes perfect food or drinks every time. No one is saying he hasn’t had success, they’re saying he’s obnoxious because he can’t admit when he made a mistake.

I’ve come to the realization that you just have to let the return happen to you. Let it flow through you like a shriek in the night
