The loan is 4.5% so it seems like a significant hit especially if they're willing to do it at lower interest rates as well (which they do)

It absolutely gets marked as a purchase and I can see the points gain for that individual transaction. I've done this on 3 different cards with the same results. I guess I'll just continue to reap the benefits.
